Solstice/Sky mentioned on CNN Money Site

CNNMoney has listed the Solstice/Sky as one of its 6 picks for non-hybrid fuel ecomomy vehicles.

6 sippin' hybrid alternatives - The roadster - Pontiac Solstice (4) - CNNMoney.com

I wish the EPA would fix those fuel economy numbers, however. I do around 26/35 on my Redline, not the 19/25 provided by the EPA.

You are right, of course. But even the Redline 2.0L is only listed as 19/28 by the EPA. I should have mentioned that in my first posting.

I know what you mean. But most of my driving is commuting to and from work, mostly city traffic, so I'm not pushing her.

My mpg varies with wind, temperature, passenger and trunk load and if I am driving on flat or hilly terrian. Tire pressure 29, fuel 93 octane ..

Flat doing 55 - 60 mph = around 40+mpg
Hilly doing 70 -75mph = 28 to30+mph
city stop & go = 26 to 28mpg

Overall average is normally 28 to 31mpg

So I am pretty pleased!

2.4l

With 5k+ on the meter I've never gotten less than 21 and on the current tankful I'm at 29.2. Overall average - 26.4.

Can't wait to see what happens with the Hahn II upgrade.

I've only had a few tanks go through so far and I'm averaging between 25 & 26 MPG.

The funny thing is it doesn't seem to matter if I try it conservatively or not so much!

I averaged 27 MPG on my second fill up, by the miles driven divided by gallons used formula, not a GM computer. I've filled it with Sunoco 93 octane both fills, no idea what the dealer had in it when I bought it. This included a healthy mix of highway, city, and spirited driving.

Any car that can be driven like this and get more than 25 MPG is a very impressive feat on GM's part. (that's coming from a Ford guy.)

Maybe there's hope for the American auto industry yet, if they can beat back the bad press. Just look at the undeserved reputation the kappa's have for the convertible top not being as simple as some car's...my jaw dropped when my salesman showed me how simple the top was to operate. No part of my experience with Honda or my Civic has been significantly better than my dealings with Saturn to date; actually I'd say Saturn has been the better company to deal with. Haven't had the Sky long enough to comment on reliability, but as far as fit and finish and similar details the Sky's taken the prize, even with the cheap plastic interior. It's holding up t daily use better than the Civic's did.

Yeah, I know, and
It's just that I'm starting to see that the American cars in general are getting glanced over the same way the Kappas are.

Oh, and Civics seem to be designed for a small Asian frame. I'm 6', and no matter how I set the seat or the steering wheel I had to compromise on something to get a position that I felt somewhat safe or comfortable driving in. I adjusted the driver's seat in the Saturn at the dealership, and I haven't moved it since.
