Speed Racer SKY Photo from Saturn 360 Magazine

Below is a scan of a photo of the Speed Racer SKY from the current issue of saturn360 magazine. The owner from Huntington Beach commented, "One day, as a treat for my son, I let him play with my 1/18 inch scale model of the Speed Racer Mach 5 car.... I started noticing the the similarties the Mach 5 had to the SKY: The hood opening forward, the lines and shape of the hood, the doors, even the bumps (fairings) behind the seats). That's when I made the decision to (purchase) the SKY. With the Speed Racer theme, the SKY would word great as a promotional vehicle for my company."

RichM, I like it!!! And I like you're way of thinking about the purchase. Now, how do we make room for all the toys the orginal Mach 5 has? Think Saturn needs to do a limited edition run of White Skys with a solid red interior, HID lights and wheels that look like the Mach 5.

I think you're being a little too ... literal. Maybe they should have gone with Mach 2 or 3.

I'm glad somebody did it, as the thought has crossed my mind, but I'd be too embarassed to go through with it.

I just saw the Mach 5 SKY a few minutes ago in Hermosa Beach. It immediately caught my attention. Made me do an illegal U-turn to come back and take pics of it.

The writing is visible on one of the pics. Its someone's business website. I wasn't really trying to catch it on the pic since I wasn't sure what it was promoting. Cool car though!

Before the movie came out, everyone use to call me speed racer at work because they thought the sky looked like the mach5. Both have long front hoods, both have short rear trunk areas, both are two seaters, both have bumps behind the driver, both are front engine with similar shaped bumps along the side of the hood. I think this is a nice idea.
