Hello guys
some guy knows about me. I live in Japan with SKY and 82 Trans am.
Today I asked to Look smith recalibrate my SKY`s key less entry system.
I have 3 fobs now.
No1 fob is OK, can work normally. No2 fob does not work, so we try recalibrate use hand held tester. (not TEC2)
SKY BCM accept new import No3 fob entry, but somehow reject No2 original fob.
I changed battery already. Look smith checked fob micro wave, No2 fob cannot shot wave.
It is OK, I can get very interest experience today that see how to recalibrate the transponder.

After that ( recalibrate fob), I drove highway with CD stereo.
Suddenly On star system work! At first, hands free phone work, system said " please say phone number".
I was so surprise, and say " No thank you" hands free system shut down, but next moment system start the talk again. and say " On star lady"
I say " No thanks bey bey, shat down, stop" etc etc, but every time system say " On star lady" when I say anything.
At last I push the On star button on back miller, then " thank you" she was gone.
It is very strange, here is Japan, On star system does not cover overseas aria. (nether XM radio)
Of coarse I do not contract to GM On star. do you think ??

What you heard was, "On Star Ready". It means that On Star is ready for a voice command for the phone system. I believe that this is built into the car's On Star's system. On Star is a GPS system which tracks your car and communicates with it or with you. The left button on your rear view mirror if for making phone calls through On Star. The center button on your rear view mirror is for talking to an On Star adviser, live. The button on the right on your rear view mirror is for emergencies which will also bring you into contact with an On Star adviser, live. Since it is operated via satellite, it is possible that it may work in Japan. I am afraid that since the system is apparently programed in English, this may be difficult to use by non English speaking users.

Yes, I understand miller buttons mean. Last year he came here, I pushed those button. Every time started explain for demonstration.
I thought if I living in America, and want use On star system and phone, I have to contract to GM. on the other hand if I do not contract to GM, I cannot use On star system. Is this correct??
I agree your GPS and satellite condition. It is OK, my surprise is No contract but system working.
Is On star system cost free??

On-Star system is not cost free.

skydriver is correct. There are basically two types of contract agreements with On Star; pay by the month through a credit card or pay a yearly fee. Within these contracts are added options and fees. There are fees for the use of the phone which can be added to the contract. There are also fees for turn by turn directions which can be added to the contract.

The basic service covers emergency service such as an accident, a live adviser responding over your audio system checking on you status if the air bags go off, etc. It also monitors you car for system operation and notifies you by email monthly the state of your car's mechanical health as well as oil life . You can also notify On Star by cell phone when you are locked out of the car and they can unlock it via signal from the satellite. If your car is stolen they can cut the power on the vehicle and locate the car for the police via satellite.

As I said before, I am not sure if this can be used in Japan. If you want such a thing, contact them and they will tell you just exactly what they can provide for you, if anything.

In the meantime enjoy your Sky. I am sure it is fun to drive just about anywhere in the world.

Wow! it is great system! It is great system with which a Japanese vehicle is not equipped.
Before I buy SKY last year, I researched about On stare contract.
There were some conditions in admission.
Only United state and Canada aria people.
Export car is not cover on this system.

That mean if I get the On star contract, maybe this system cannot work perfectly.
If I have traffic accident in Japan load, maybe nobody save me naturally.
But, On star protect fuser car rom theaf. I envy On star user.
Anyway, EFBRODIESR, GM cannot accept my contract offer.
This is not On star story, now my SKY redio not catch the radio wave. It is not trouble, that natural situation.
In Japan radio channel use low wave ( start 7.00) I do not hear radio in Japan.
I hope radio catch the XM radio channel. (I read from something, XM radio covered only United state and Canada and some part of Mexico)
I rather want the XM radio wave than On star satellite.
