A strange XM question...

But...has anybody experienced reception problems TODAY (05/21/07) with their XM??? It was working fine early this morning on my way to the gym...coming home from the gym, the reception was fading in and out. Tried changing stations...same thing was happening on every station. Hubby comes home from work, tells me that his portable XM MyFi unit was doing the same exact thing...fading in and out, no signal at times. Could this have been a glitch in the Chicago area only? Or did anyone else in other areas have the same thing happening to them today?

It was happening to me this afternoon. I just thought it was thick cloud cover that was blocking my reception every now and then.

Hello! Yes I experienced the same problems this afternoon around 1245pm est. I was not happy to say the least =) ... but I'm kind of happy it isn't just my car, and there may have been a real problem with the XM signal.

Yup, I was driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway this morning. Turned on the XM radio on my truck about 9 AM EST and got a "No Signal" indication on all channels. Things started to work better around a half hour letter but the signal kept fading in and out.

Don't know if this is true, but a few stories in google news reporting a software upgrade caused some problems with a satellite and some repeaters causing outages largely in the eastern US and Canada.

Okay, thought I was crazy. I haven't had the car very long and all day long I was thinking...."I sent that XM check in, right?"

Just got this e-mail moments ago...

Service Degradation Alert

You may be experiencing temporary degraded performance with your XM reception at the present time. XM is aware of the issue and working diligently to resolve it as soon as possible. We anticipate full signal strength will be restored by early Tuesday morning.

NO WAY
You must be a Howard Sterner. I have both. Sirius in one car and XM in another. Music on XM is much better. We listen to the the flight 26 most of the time.

On a side note Howard Stern was better on regular air when he had to work around the regulations. Now he is just garbage all the time. He is not funny anymore and I used to like him.

Some kind of issue with Satellite #1, They are attempting a software update to fix the issue. XM is operating on it's backup Satellite (Closer to the equator, so you need a pretty open shot at the southern sky to get decent reception)

No ETA on Resolution at this time...

I wasnt listening to my XM yesterday but opt for the sunspot theory too. And I too prefer XM over Sirius. Anything that goes into a Chrysler product can't be good.
