Stubby Antennae revisted

I did some searching but most of the posts were from over a year ago. Are there "good" stubby's? "Bad" stubby's?

I listen to mostly XM and was wondering if a brand or "model" was better than the other.

Thanks!!

If you mostly listen to XM then it won't matter that Much what you replace the FM. Antennae with. I think the Opel GT one, while not a true stubby, is really good looking and has the same reception as the stock one

I tried a few stubbys - including a broken/used one that was sent to me from carccessory.com (My credit card company had to get involved to resolve this - Bad Experience with Carccessory.com).

In the end - none of they stubbys were very good for reception... As you would expect, the smaller ones have the least reception.

In the end, I went with the Opel antenna. I gets great reception and is still much smaller than the OEM Sky antenna

I have the stubbiest antenna I've seen to date, and the three times I ever turned on the radio in the Sky (twice at drive in movies, once to see why traffic was so horrible) it was fine. If you really don't listen to terrestrial radio, just go for looks.

Go to GMPartsDirect & type 25805645 into the search box.
That will bring up a page showing you the antenna.
They are even on sale right now.
Beyond easy to switch out.

I love my GT antenna - no more bumper car look.

I just ordered the Opel Gt antenna, but - until it arrives,

My factory antenna is so loose. I need to hand tighten it every couple days. Any thoughts on how to tighten it down?

Thanks!

I just received my Opel antenna last week. I hand tightened, then wrapped a rag around the base and gave it an extra 3/4 turn with pliers.

I have the Stubby B series (...or it might be C...) from Carccessory.com. It's the one that looks like a really thin upside-down ice cream cone. I love the look of it and it gets great reception in Phoenix. On the way up to Flagstaff, it cuts out about 5 miles sooner than the stock whip, and that's when it is all the way down and not extended.

The only problem...some jerk unscrewed the top part of the cone so now all you see is threads

Thanks all ..... think I'll call the GM dealer up the road and see if parts has the Opal GT antenna in stock - or just order one.

Does it telescope at all?
