Tampa Bay Roadsters

Alright, I have tried asking, now I'm going to form my own club even if it's just me and the wife. I left some fliers around at a couple of the dealerships and had them post them on the bulletin boards, but I will give you the gist of the flyer.

Tampa Bay Roadsters

I have been searching the threads on the forums for both the Saturn Sky (Skyroadster.com) and the Pontiac Solstice (Solsticeforum.com) and have not been able to find a local club. The closest one I can find is Orlando and with the number of Kappa cars that I see in the Tampa area we should be able to form a nice club if there is interest.

Here are my ideas (and I would welcome any input from anyone that has started a club before) :

1) We aren’t looking to take up all of your time, maybe a “meet and greet” and an event or ride every 2 to 3 months. Would need ideas for the rides.
2) There are no costs associated with this club, unless at some time we decide to become affiliated with one of the national clubs, like GM Roadster or North American Solstice/Sky Owner’s Association. You may also join these clubs individually.
3) Convoys for national, regional or state meets/runs.
4) Discussions between members about the best local dealer, where to take your car for service and problems that be affecting us all.
5) We have some beautiful places in this area to go to, Fort DeSoto, Clearwater Beach, Cypress Gardens, or a day at Busch Gardens, etc. Can you imagine pulling into a parking lot with 20, 30 or more Skys and Solstices there?

Alright, we have received a message from WedPro of Bradenton and they are going to join us in this endeavor. We would like to see more response and really get this together.
The 2 vehicles are driving to Okeechobee this coming weekend for the Ring Around Lake Okechobee ride. We will go south to where we can meet them and then take their route to Okeechobee. Will take us a bit longer, but gives us more time riding in G8TR SKY.

This is the kind of thing that can make a club work and make it a lot of fum. Hope to hear from more of you.

Lots of people seem to be looking, would think there would be some that would have some interest in this also.
After the Ring Around Lake Okeechobee Adventure this coming weekend we will be going to Tail of the Dragon in June. If anyone else is headed that way and wants to caravan up please let me know and we can make plans to do so.

This has gone off much better then expected, We now already have 7 cars that have said they want to be part of the new Tampa Bay Roadsters. Thanks for all the help and the encouragement that people have given from other clubs as well. So it appears that we will be a going concern (and growing) quickly. Can ya'll plan something for like the 26th that Saturday that Sky Baby is there on that Saturday so I can drive down once and for all and meet everyone and her please???????????????????? I will check back the forum more to see updates I promise!!!!!!!

I WOULD LOVE & BE HONORED to help in anyway to get this going off the ground. I have not only started a few car and truck clubs in my time but also I have been in a few along with "holding" positions (NO DIRTY JOKES DOUG) on the boards of the clubs.

Alright, we are trying to set up a meet and greet for sunday, so that Barry can be involved, I would like to have it around 2pm, but I am open to suggestions. Depending on responses and where we are all coming from will make the decision as to where we need to have this. Would try to make it so that no one car will have to drive an exaggerated length compared to others. As soon as I hear from the outlying areas, Bradenton and Spring Hill, we will make our decision as to place. Also if there are any other times the majority would rather plan for let me know. Let's make this work for all of us.
On a different note, any of you that are familiar with the Sky forum know the name SkyBaby. She will be here starting the 24th and would like to meet with any interested, possibly on the 26th. KimberlySky, from Orlando will be coming for this and also wants to join TampaBayRoadsters as well. We look forward to meeting all of you and hope that we can work this out and have a great club.

Anyway, I got an Email from Barry linking me to this thead and I just wanted to let you know that I am going to go through all my Sky customers and tell them about this Club. I already know of at least two off the top of my head that would do this for sure!

We have decided to have a "Meet and Greet" for anyone interested on Sunday, April 20th at 2:00pm. We have not yet decided on a place, however we would like to find somewhere between Tampa and Spring Hill to do this. For all of you that are interested we are giving you a chance for input on where to meet. If not I will make a decision friday evening and hope that everyone goes along. We all have to remember that most of us have never met before and we don't want to offend by choice of places or anything like that (we can do that after we know each other).
So please if ypou have any ideas, whether it be Land O' Lakes,Wesley Chapel, NPR, Port Richey, Tarpon Springs, etc. please let me know so that we can do this. Also, anyone that would like to do so, please pm me with your email so that we have a current list of contacts for the club.

Alright, I have not heard anything from anyone about where they want this held, so as to try and accomodate those that might be coming from different areas the meeting will be held at Smoky Bones Bar B Que right across the street from Citrus Park Mall. The actual address is 8020 Citrus Park drive. They have no call aheads but assure me that the wait even for a large group should be no more then 30 minutes.
Let's try to get as many cars and people together for this so that we can meet and to figure out where we are heading with this club. I look forward to meeting you all.
