Tire Pressure Monitor is Great!
The Tire Pressure Monitor-What a great invention.
Today I was on the Turnpike (limited exits and service plazas are like 40 miles apart) something punctured my rear tire. When it happened I had no idea. The low tire warning came on. I was loosing about a pound per minute(I knew that by watching the DIC pressure). Luckly I was able to make it to an exit and pulled in to a gas station with 10psi left in the tire. I could hear the air rushing out of the tire. I was at the air fill station and a good smaratian came by and happend to have a tire plug kit in his car and plugged my tire. How forunate for me. Anyway never having a TPM in a car before my Redline I can say this device saved me, at minimum I would not have realized the tire was punctured until it was flat then probably ruined a $150 tire. I tell you it is great that this is mandated in 2008 cars. On another note anyone know how good a tire plug is. I watched the pressure on the way home and it did not drop at all. Should I feel safe with the plug if I am not losing air and not worry about it or should I try to get the tire an internal patch.

Tire Plugs
Plugs are intended for temporary repair. In theory, you shouldn't drive over 55 or for more than 50 miles.
Get the tire patched for your own safety.

It depends
I had a puncture repaired by a dealer once - had to make an appointment and wait a couple days and then sit there for hours - not sure exactly what they used - but it came out a couple days later. So I stopped at a random service station and they patched it with a plug that had a very gooey substance on it that held through the remaining tread life of the tire.
