Does the dealer cover a cut in the top? i have had the car for about 1.5 months. I am thinking that from putting up and down maybe it was caught on something

If you can show that it was caused by normal operation of the top (ie, something mechanical inside cut it while you were putting up/down or over time) then yes.

There was some posting about the rail where it bends digging into the canvas and tearing it. It can be found under tops in the search feature...Skip...

Thanks SKIP. It is exactly where the top of the window meets the soft TOP on the driver side

Don't mean to play 20 questions but is it on the external or internal fabric? Front or rear end of the window?

If it *is* a tear on the UNDERSIDE just under where the top pivots on the middle (above your head when it's up), then yes... it's common and it happened to me. I showed my dealer... and they clear could see the reason was not due to mishandling but rather just regular use.

In my case, there is a rubber section covering the protruding nib at the bend point. regular use can pull the rubber protection away from the nib and now you have sharp metal rubbing canvas as you close and open the top. End result... a tear in the fabric.

My dealer asked if they could experiment and I now have a nice plastic square where the rubber was... no sharp metal and no "too flexible" rubber. The weather-stripping around the top is all now "custom" versus stock... but I'm ok with that. It all works as if from factory now.
