Well, I gotta thank Eloy at RPi for all the work he did to make my early 2.4 a very fun ride. I initially planned to add F/I to get it "there", but that just isn't gonna happen in the state of CA. Last week I decided to take a good hard look at the RL and decide while GM's employee pricing promotion was still running. Gotta thank skyroadsters first supporting dealer Saturn of Santa Clarita for making it as easy as possible to make the call. No pressure, no sales push really, they wanted to help me figure out which car I wanted to stay with. After an extended test drive, yeah, I figured a RL would do just fine. SSC moved most of my mods between cars, as we migrated the ones which still made sense. Didn't quite make 2 1/2 years on the 2.4, and back to break-in. Just took it out for a first ride around town. I'd love to fling it about some, but,,, gonna be good for a while. Overall, feels a bit more solid than my old car, but probably just the torque tube and newer better tires.
Hey RL owners? What's the deal with the seat? Feels more comfortable like it has more padding or something, but feels like it has more flexing support as it kinda bounces. The seat's not moving, just feels like springs of flex or something. Not a problem really, just one of the handful of differences that caught my eye, or butt really.
Aside from the power, I'm nearly as excited to have the current 3rd gear ratio and TC/ECS. No doubt the ECS will save me as I work my way through learning the car and it's turbo characteristics. Only open question is whether the Z0K crossmember made it to the regular production cars as an article said some time ago. I looked at my old car with the Z0K crossmember and the new car's xmember looks like the original. Doesn't say much there, as it's pretty much hollow and they coulda added strength with thicker metal. From driving, maybe? Don't know. The car's still to new to push it, and different enough to add a question there. Guess we'll see, but may need to check part numbers I suppose.
Congratulations on your new ride! The difference between the 2 is really remarkable. More power = more fun, and the turbo has enough to keep you happy for a long time. Welcome to the fast side of the house.

Thanks. Yeah, it certainly has some point-and-shoot capabilities.

Yeah, pics. Hey, I've been crazy busy. Inked the deal last Wed and just took my first ride, lol. I brought a camera, but it was already too dark.
I brought brakes, suspension, exhaust, and shifter. I left clutch and flywheel, along with one of Eloy's early ramair style intake experiments. Somebody's gonna be able to snag a very fun 2.4 off the lot with those.

As Tim the Tool Man said ... "you can always use more power"!
Enjoy the ride through the journey of life in your RedLine!

Congratulations...but what color? You gave up an early Vin#....I am still keeping mine...low vin#s equal more value in 50 years...I won't be around but hopefully my son will keep her..

Yeah, I gave up an early VIN, along with the character those first year cars uniquely had. Felt like we'd built up a great '70 Chevelle with the feel, but, the gearing and power were taking the fun out of track days and no doubt with the torque we added, I'd just find an inappropriate parking spot one day. (Curb, tree, pole, ) My first year TR6 had no real value to anyone but me 25-30 years later. I'd rather enjoy my cars in the moment.
MB is not available in the '09s. Not a lot of suffering to move to the new Ruby Red.
Ruby Red? Is it the special edition, or am I only kinda jealous? Congratulations!
Naw. I didn't want the special edition. Kinda like the low key sleeper approach. Well to the extent that ya can in a RR RL with exhaust and other future mods.
