Trips and Storage

Since I am new to the Sky (not yet hit the 100 mile mark) what is the best way to pack for a long weekend considering I want the top down? I was pretty much beat up by the other half for purchasing an impracticle car.

Hello, and WELCOME to the Sky Family It is possible for a party of 2 to have a nice trip with the top down. For starters you have to have soft luggage, some type of matching duffle bags. Secondly, you need to roll your garments and use all available space on the sides. You can mail your luggage to your destination via FED EX or UPS, if going away for a long perion of time.

I bought a set of roll-up type duffle bags that fit behind the top (when down) and the taillight assembly. Although I found them on e-Bay and paid $60.00 for the set, I have since read where others on the Forum found similar ones at Sam's Club for less than that.

Another idea that will give you a little more room on the way to and from your destination is to leave the top up until you get to your destination, which gives you more space in the "trunk area." Once you unload it at you destination, you can ride around with the top down.

So far as catching heat for being "inpractical," take them for spin and you'll usually change a few minds!

24 X 20 duffle from Target, Wally World or who-ever works great if you know how to fold. 4 nights 5 days trip and everything we needed fit just fine. That included the evening dinner dress my wife had to bring, 5 pairs of shoes for her and cameras, digital junk etc,.
Less than 20 bucks can get you what you need unless you want Versace.

I got 4 duffles from walmart for $5.00 each. Here is a link to the bags.

<mod edit: non supporting vendor url removed>

4 fit perfectly in the trunk. There is a thread on here with pictures.

The wife and I are able to pack enough clothes for a 5 day trip in our duffle bags and still be able to put the top down. This car will hold more than you think

Thanks for all the suggestions. I am going to Target and see what they have in soft bags. I looked at Overstock, but they are out of stock

My wife had the idea that all she needed was a tooth brush and a credit card - neither takes up much space!

You can also attach a 3M Command Strip hook (cord bundler) behind one (or both!) seats and put hanging clothes there.

Here's a thread from over at the Solstice forum: (sorry, pictures have expired) http://www.solsticeforum.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=17440

Attached is a pic from my car.

Here's a product page for these cord bundlers. <mod edit: url to non supporting vendor removed>
I bought mine in the hardware section at Target.

I went on a week long trip to the beach a few weeks ago and in addition to the 4 duffles I purchased from ebay I purchased some of the space saver bags. You put your clothes in the bag and then roll them to get the air out of the bag. They lay flat. I stored them behind the seats.

I use the cheapest luggage you can get.. Plastic grocery bags.. I smooth the clothes out on a bed, fold them over one time then start at the bottom and roll them up like a sleeping bag. Grocery bags are conformable, they are also useful to put your dirty clothes in. easily replaceable if torn.
If you are concerned about wrinkles in your clothes... just carry one of those small travel steamers with you to remove wrinkles

FedEX a day or two ahead of time, to your destination of choice.
