Is this true

I was speaking to a sec. at a Saturn dealership and she said that the Sky was going out of production after three years ?

Even though it's most likely not true, from a selfish point of view, i wouldnt be opposed to the idea. If the Sky is discontinued after 3yrs, that means our cars would hold value a whole of a lot better since there'd be so few of them.

Of course, why would GM drop a car that's sought after and makes a profit (i assume), when they could drop other cars that bring nothing to the brand?

marketing, marketing, marketing

Although nothing has been said of sort, which also could be retracted if it was said. This is strictly speculation. And speculation in the world of buying causes hysteria when a product wanted is not being overly produced. Supply/demand .and.. the 4 p's of marketing ( price, place, promotion & product) all play a part in making this car a HOT object that is needed NOW... And the fact that there are many rumors coming around saying " limited this, limited that" people run to the dealers to get on that list so they too can have a piece. As far as GM not even publicly putting these rumors to rest, is a genius marketing strategy to attract those who do not yet own or have ordered skys and even further increase demand for GM product, where eventually the supply/demand curve will level off at maximum productivity.

..."Everything goes great with Caramel"

....Lets indulge ourselves and "IMAGINE" this false rumor IS true......In 3 yrs ..the RESIDUAL/RESALE VALUES of a well maintained REDLINE..fully loaded....would be very likley be well NORTH of 60% ($20 - $25,000... ......."Hell I CAN live with that"............ OK now back to REALITY... GM has already stated that the SKY REDLINE represents the RETURN of "QUALITY" to Saturn..and has positioned it as it's performance FLAGSHIP of the Saturn Brand...."flagship" autos DON'T GET DROPPED....after just 3 yrs,......THEY GET UP-GRADED....

If any truth

Perhaps something was said like, "It has 3 years to take its niche, or we will consider shutting it down." But, at this stage, coming out and saying it has only 3 years of life is like cutting of your nose to spite your face.
I can see a time limit to see if it can get a market share, but not "shut down" date...
