Unique Brake Caliper Color

Ok, so I have seen some very nice caliper jobs done on this forum and would like to thank all that posted for making my job more predictable. I have the Silver Pearl with the red interior and wanted to accent the Red.

I have seen the same car as mine with the standard RED (Fireengine Color), Thanks Bob and Kathy. I liked it very much but I was thinking if I can find a color that was a little darker. Then I ran into this Dupli-Color Metal Cast in MC200 Red Anodized.

So I finally got around to painting them today. I decided to test it on a metal shelf bracket as well as the standard caliper Red. Well I like what I saw and went with it. I am very happy with the results. They are more subtle then the flat red. They cast like chrome would, so if it is in shadow it is very dark, and in the direct light ity shines VERY close to the Interior red which is a deep red.

First Shots are of the car completely protected from overspray and some masking I had to do. Also the test chips so you can see the difference. I did one side of the car at a time with the jacking puck and jack stands in place in case the jack got bumped or something unforeseen happened.

These shots are of the calipers with a couple of coats, I did three final. Cleaned with caliper cleaner and steel wood(fine) and wiped with a clean rag.

Final Shots. Got very cloudy and dark out. Like I said they shine more in the light but I did my best to show what they look like finished.

xmicro, The calipers look great. A different red for sure, but I like it. BTW where did you get you Redline decales fro the calipers? I've checked ebay and can only fine Saturn ones.

Thanks!
I wrote to the guy with the Saturn ones and he made them for me custom. Been a while I got them made in January. Good luck!

Wow, all that wrapping for painting brake calipers. You are meticulous, but I think you still had a little overspray But really looks nice. You did a very good job.

Paul...u most have worked all day wrapping those calipers...no less taking all 4 wheels off....I thought u were going to put the Foose wheels on...what happened?

I have to hand it to you...u r more patient than me....I just rented a lift and took off the entire calipers and brakes...painted the 3 coats and everything back on...although it took 2 hours the entire process...it is still tiresome going around and painting each set of calipers...u have perserverence.

Just as an after thought...after the lettering is on...either spray or paint on clear silicone...this way the lettering remains clean. I did it to mine...

Hey, I bet u never got to do the third brake light pulser...u must have been exhausted

Don't ask about the Foose Wheels, I am exhausted from that whole process. I returned the 3 scratched ones and some how wound up with 3 passenger side and 1 drivers side (directional tires). I am bringing one in Monday for him to make it a drivers then I will FINALLY have these damn things on the car. I do not even care anymore, I am numb.

Good idea with the clear over vinyl, Thanks! Took me 5 - 6 hours total, not too bad. It's all about the masking!
Brake Pulsar, Dash Kit, Caliper lettering and Foose rims for next Saturday.

Than the monster is complete (for now). IT IS ALLLLLLLLIVVVVVVVEEE!

Thanks, the only overspray was on me. Poor wife has to clean those clothes.

Actually, looking back at the pics I see where you mean on the front disc. I saw that, tape lifted in between coats and I missed it. I will get that off with some steel wool and thinner next week when I put the vinyl lettering on. Oh well.

Dude no matter what though...I give you props for all the detail you put into it. I didn't even mask anything when I painted my RX-7 calipers. I figured, I would change out the brake pads and rotors. That's the lazy way, so you win hands down
