Vertical doors VS Lambo doors
Ok I have been reading all the posts and studying up on all the different doors kits. There seems to be some confusion. Lambo doors are not the same as vertical doors even though Gravana and Kappa and some other companies may call them that. The Lambo door kits (unless modified) only go about 60-70 degrees. True vertical door kits go to a full 90 degrees. I want them because I am tired of having to open my doors only to the first detent and having to squeeze through the door to get out because some jack@$% parked to close to me so I figured it the doors went up instead of out it would give people more room to get out. I am thinking that the true vertical doors must swing out a little farther so they don't hit the fender when they go 90 degrees. Not sure about that though. Maybe some of you that have the true 90 degree doors can answer that. There is a company "Chaser Aerodynamics" that make what they call a Diable door kit that is true vertical doors. Chaser Aerodynamics
Have any of you tried these kits at all? The Lambo kits might be fine. My Wife and I are going to look at a Sky here in town that has the Lambo doors on it and see if they are what I want or to go with the vertical kits. ![]() |

The 90 degree door opening may make closing the door difficult. From the pic's on the Chaser website, it looks like it would take quite a reach to grab the door handle. Could be wrong about this though. I'd be interested to hear from someone who actually has a car door that opens to this extent.

When they make the kit open the doors like the Koenigsegg CCR then I will put them on my car. I would want some CF doors and hood, and back cover to take off a few hundred lbs as well.

They only plus I could see for you with the 90 degree kit is that you would truly have all the room you could ask for to get out... the reason the VDI kit doesn't go higher from what I can see is that the fenders would need to be cut too much. For me, the doors are just right. "Lambo's" = vertical doors... the only differentation between "Lambo" kits is the degree they raise. Their degree does not change the definition.

No no no please don't. There are ton of mods that people have done on their Sky/Sol's that I don't care for but to each is their own and I usually won't speak up over them but this one is one I really don't care for at all.

doors
I do like the Keonigsegg doors. They swing out and up in a single fluid motion - i read on their site that when the designer set out to make them function that way he was told by various experts in the field that it was not possible - but he did it anyway. I do respect that creative spirit.
many (most? all?) the lambo or vertical type doors hinge outward part way first then go up - so you assuming you survive the roll over and there is clearance next to the car you could still open the doors. i believe only one of the new Lamborghini models has standard doors - others still use their traditional doors. |

I have the VDI kit installed for almost a year now, and I have no regrets. I'm 6'2" and getting in & out is never a problem.
As far as those of you whining about them being "played out" I hardly think so given the compliments I get every time someone sees me pop the door and lift. The key is to have them properly installed, and I strongly recommend against any universal kit as almost every "one size fits all" application rarely fits anything correctly. The VDI kit is specifically designed for the sky. ![]()
