Warranty Transfer - anything special to be done?

Quick question about the Warranty:

I recently got a Redline from a private seller, and am wondering if there's anything special that needs to be done to transfer the warranty? Does it just go with the title holder?

Thanks!!

Warranties that are from the factory are covered by the vin number. Warranties that are purchased as aftermarket are not usally transferable. The Saturn factory warranty is 3/36 and with 5/100 on powertrain.

Your 5 year 100,000 mile warranty will transfer automatically once the car's title work is complete. If you need any special assistance, take your title into the saturn dealership to make sure they have the owner changed on the GM computers.

If the person you bought the car from got the extended warranty from GM then he can sign over the warranty to you. You have to go to the dealership and get the form to fill out. You will also have to get the person who sold it to you to not cancel his extended warranty.
If he calls up GM and cancels it and then gets his money (prorated) back, you are out of luck.
I sold a Mustang a few years back that I had the extended warranty on. I helped the couple who bought it contact the dealer and get the right forms.
I think (it was 98) that I had to sign something for him. But I am not sure.
The dealership should have no problem taking care of this switch. They probably do it for vehicles that come in for trades all the time.

Good luck.

I just took mine to the dealer and they transfered the basic warrenty. I will have to purchase an extended on if I want. Not sure it's worth the money to add two years. Still thinking on it since I can buy one anytime.

Hmmm, wasn't aware you can get back a calculated amount of an "unused" ext warranty for the extra time that you will not use upon trade/selling the car. Very good information indeed. I guess I have a few calls to Hyundai to make. I bought their total coverage 10 yr warranty, added a good $15-20 per monthly payment.

I think my RL down payment might just get bigger

This one has the new 100,000 mile warranty, not extended. So sounds like I'm good to go on title transfer.

Thanks all!
