Water pump failure

Poll is self explanatory.

Well, if you're still good and you have less than 30K miles, you should wait before you vote.

I don't think so, a quick google search I found that some might also been changed thru the model years,
need someone in the know to confirm, but I would venture to say to answer your question,
NO, they are 2 different motors all together...

BTW, I answered this poll, so far my 2.4L is over 35k, still original pump...

From what I can tell the LNF and LE5 use the same water pump. It looks like they may not have at one point, as there are a few revisions for part history, but if you go into a dealership today it's the same pump.

When was your 2008 made? If there were any changes made to the water pumps over the years, and when were they made? What did the dealer claim was the cause of the failure of the water pump? Answers to these questions may be helpful to those of us who have had no failure so far. I have 39,000 miles on my 2.4 2008 made in June 2007.

That's a lot of pumps

The R/L's seem to have the problem. I have never had a pump go out in one of my cars in less than 100K. I have a 2.4 that was one of the first that was purchased in September of 06.

I did have the low coolant come on once during a super hot day with the air blasting, but it checked out ok and I didn't see any leaks. That was like 2 months ago. I have just over 40k now.

Yeah, my car had it all go wrong at around 50k miles.

Water pump was leaking
Coolant leaking
T-Stat went out as well

The dealer tried to fight me on the Thermostat and wanted $250 just to replace it. DON'T PAY THEM. I called Saturn / GM and it is covered by the warranty!

No claim. Just "It's the water pump...you're covered...we'll get you a rental".

No replacement for my 04/06 Sky with 2.4. Just clicked over 30K.

I thought that the warranty was up at 3 years or 35K miles.

I got bent on that last month too.. covered under factory powertrain warranty.
I agreed to pull the supercharger off for them and they took care of it.. too bad someone didn't replace the metal gasket for it and galled the mating surface causing it to leak oil all over my engine and garage. When I re-installed my supercharger bracket I found out and was less than excited... even better when the dealer didn't even have the gasket.. lucky for me I had one from a L61 I had for parts.

I almost did this job on my own, but figured I would ask the dealer before I purchased the timing chain tool.
It's covered under the powertrain warranty.

Bumper to Bumper is 3/36
Powertrain is 5/100

Water Pump is considered part of power train. Hence, covered 5/100.

Except for the '06s (which he has). Then there was no 5/100 powertrain warranty.

There were no 06 SKYs. It's an 07 model and we got grandfathered in on the extended powertrain warranty. I got a letter after I bought the car.

I am surprised that the water pump would be covered.

I believe that I am having an intermittent problem with the coolant temperature sending unit. When I get a display ---F, the A/C cuts off.

I wonder if that would be covered
