Hi, with thousands of cars that went underwater from Hurricane Sandy on the east coast, there must be plenty of kappas from the area. Great idea as a bargain deal as a commuter car to fix up especially with the Sky or Solstice? Are there more advantages/disadvantages of getting a car that was waterlogged?
If you understand the potential problems, a flood salvage can be a pretty good buy. The advantage with a Kappa is that body parts are probably harder to get than electrical and interior soft parts.
How deep, for how long, and in what kind of water are the big questions, and the existence of other damage could also be significant.
One possible option is to buy a flood car and a severely wrecked car, and combine them into one.
They are totaled for a reason. Electrical is toast, every wet connection is ruined even in fresh water. Salvage title is hard to unload. The car would have to be free and you may have to spend more on restoration than a good used car.
Buying a flood car would be a bad idea unless really, really cheap; and even then only as a parts car.
