So are you saying you finally pulled the trigger on this one? Congratulations if you did. Appears to be a nice car. Chris Pine over on the Kappa site posted a comment about it.
They're saying someone already put down a deposit. Marvic believes it's you. Hope it is.
I can't remember where Chris Price (it's Price who posted the thread) lives...want to say he is in CA...but I don't think he has seen it. Says there is an accident on the car's history but just that it was right front bumper. Picks look good and no indication of how sever the accident was. Could be they brushed against something and scratched it a bit, could be more...don't know if anyone is local to inspect for you but might be worth a plane flight considering how long you've been looking for the "right" car, you know?
Yeah, deposit is down, Accident was 4 months after 2nd owner took ownership in july 2011 and somewhere between 7k and 11K miles. Wonder if they found some damage they wanted insurance to fix??? but figure they have driven another 30K miles and 5 yrs since then. Can't be much major wrong.
It was a buy it now but had make offer, decided at that price was not worth possibly losing it over a few hundred dollars.
Congratulations sir. I know you have been looking for a long time. I finally saw one at the National. Actually two. One was just a little different, but won best car of the show, Rick Flury. Nice guy. It is absolutely fantastic.
Not sure why I didn't ask when I posted the pics, yeah I know this is subjective and will start a debate. Looking for a summer only, good ride, prefer lower noise, and better than avg grip, performance is not the main factor but also dont want a mess either.
Im guessing I am looking at 4 tires even with the ones in back being good tread, need to find out what tire they are.
Did some looking thinking RunFlats for the wife might not be a bad choice Thinking Bridgestone DriveGuard.
Dave, this is a special looking ride. The little issue with the accident does NOT sound like any kind of an issue to me. Without knowledge of the spot, it probably can't even be noticed. You didn't mention your home location, but do I recall somehow you are on the East Coast? I'm a little far myself from Texas or I'd check for you. I believe the dealer did NOT know how special that car is, or they would have priced it higher. That is a really good deal all around.
I think that is more than reasonable on the tires, Dave.
As you know the Super Sports are highly rated by most people. Skersfan didn't like the way they tracked on the freeway ruts though. Really good grip, good lifespan, low noise from what I've heard. Really good overall tire.
I love my Potenzas but if you're not going to push it hard, there really is no need to go with the RE-71Rs. They are a true summer only tire and the grip is outstanding. Wear is really low but if you're only bringing her out in summer for fun drives chances are you'll get 2-3 years out of them anyway. I hope to get 1 year out of them.
Even my Delintes weren't bad. Grip was at or below the stock tires and wear really wasn't spectacular (about 22K miles out of them) but they were inexpensive and not noisy.
I may not be the best source to ask about tires because, for what i was looking for, grip trumped all else. I didn't care about noise or wear obviously since I got some of the quickest wearing tires on the market. LOL But the GRIP!!!! LOL
Dealer said No to the price drop, I will wire money Monday. Then set up transport. Might have it delivered to tire shop get the new tires then bring the wife up. She has no idea and I hope I can keep it a surprise.
Thinking of going with the run flats for peace of mind.
Tirerack.com is an excellent resource for selecting tires/wheels. Yes, the ratings are a bit subjective, but with enough of them, they become a decent baseline.
NICE! They are awesome cars. That there being rare could be a collector.
