What kind of car has your Sky been mistaken for?

The other day I was parked in front of a store, waiting for my wife. I was near my car, reading a paper in the shade. A couple of guys walked past my Sky, pointing and talking about it. One guy explained to the other "that's the new Aston Martin convertible. If I had the money, that's the car I'd get."

Later, I looked up the Aston Martin (AutoClub: Aston Martin Vantage Roadster) and learned that it's a $127,000 car! It has hood vents and a few other similarities, so I can see how he'd think that.

I've seen other recent posts on the forum where people have mistaken the Sky for a Porsche, Viper, Corvette, etc. I've never heard of anyone mistaking it for a Miata or an MR2--only expensive, exotic cars.

I'm curious to hear what other misidentifications people have heard. What is the most expensive car your Sky has been mistaken for?

Answers so far:
"Hey A$$hole$ - Buy American" - Priceless
Alfa Romeo (BC Competizione?): $265,000
Ferrari (California?): $210,000
Aston Martin Vantage Roadster: $127,000
Porsche (911?): 75,600 - $96,800
Viper: $84,880 - $85,630
Jaguar (XK?): From $77,000
Corvette: $46,100 - $77,820
Lotus (Elise?): $46,270 - $54,500
Porsche (Boxster?): $45,800 - $55,700
Camaro: $27,000 - $45,000
Miscellaneous 6-figure Exotics: $?

lol - I get the same confused look from 95% of the people who see me go by (then again I've also shaved all the badges too). Still need the Opel GT grill though (next month; new iPhone comes first - err - today).

I always am in the car with the stereo cranked and the top down - so I never actually hear the conversations; but it's the exact same look on everyone's face.

I really do love it; as even the guys with the 6-figure Exotics stare.

I saw an Aston Martin Vantage Roadster with the top down last weekend on the street. It has the unmistakable grill, but from the side I thought it looked a lot like a Camaro.

One big reason I like the Sky is the boldness of the design. Not a bland melted bar of soap profile like the Miata or Honda S2000.

At the gas station today, I had a guy ask "Is that the new Vette?".

What was funny was that he was driving a Saturn Ion, and he still didn't recognize the logos...

I'm along with previous posts.... I mainly just get those same puzzled/dazed/confused looks. I love to stand in the vicinity and watch people as they walk/drive by. Thinking about investing in a miracle ear.. HA!!

Yup, what do they know...if Harley made a plane, would you fly in it?! They'd get it if it had flames, skulls, eagles, leather fringe, and the assorted other doodads they like, and couldn't handle or brake or accelerate, but I digress...

On topic, I'm starting to realize that people think the Sky costs a LOT more than it actually does. I think that helps explain why folks confuse it with a 'Vette, Lotus, or some other exotic. It's still a kick to see folks' reactions when I tell them it's a Saturn!

I've updated the list of responses (at the top of this thread). It's pretty clear that GM has made a car that looks, to common passers-by, a lot more expensive than it is. (Personally, I think the Sky is better looking than most of those cars.)

And just the statement "Buy American" doesn't really mean much anymore. There are foreign makes built in America, and American makes built elsewhere. [Aside: Did ya'll know the original choice for kappa production was in Mexico?).

To be true American, it should be "Buy American MADE in America". A statement that applies to the Solstice/SKY, but does not apply to several other American makes.
