What are my chances?

I have fallen in love with the saturn sky. I am from Long Island, NY and there are few dealers here with no cars on the lots. I put a deposit down hoping a silver graphite/black interior would arrive. Dealer made no promises. A black /red/black interior 2007 Saturn Sky arrived today and it so hot I can't believe it! Very sporty looking. Mine if I want it.
A new dealer is opening next month and they tell me they can get me a silver graphite/black interior sometime in June but can't write the order until they open late April. In your experience, is that a reasonable wait-time? Am I taking my chances? Does the black/red combo look like a total "guy" car? Seen any on the road? Any feedback would be appreciated!

Well a bird in the hand...If I were you and felt the one you are being offered is great, just as good as the one you thought about, I think I would take it (but that is just me now). Thing is you have to decide, if it is OK to accept what is being offered or wait for what you really want. Just remember the chief cause of unhappiness and failure is trading what you want most for what you want at the moment. Good luck on your decision!

I heard that dealers can no longer take orders for 2007s. I do not know if this is true. Also, since there are only two dealers on Long Island now, before you commit to anything, I strongly advise you to obtain the out the door price. Are you looking at a base model or Redline, stick or auto? The black w/red leather is probably the classiest combination out there. However, black is hard to keep clean and shows every minor imperfection in the paint. Good luck in any event.

They should be able to order whatever you want. If you're looking to just buy whatever is already coming, it may be more difficult to get the colors and options you prefer. I'd either order my own and prepare to wait for it to come in, or try to locate one somewhere else and go get it.

Thank you all for your replies. I am new to this forum and didnt see your responses. BUT..............

I bought the Black SKY, red/black interior and drove it home today!!!

I decided to stop talking myself out of it and just let myself fall completely in love and sign the papers! The car is so smokin hot I can't believe it! I drove it to the south shore of Long Island where I live and the looks the car generated was unbelieveable! People were switiching lanes to look at it - and I have only had it for a few hours. I haven't seen many on the road here and it is definately a head-turner!
( I like to think it was because I am a blonde, but it just may be the car! ) I am so happy!

The Hempstead dealer was great and true to his word on everything. I will have to let the new dealer know I am not his first sale but when people on the road see my car they will be driving in to his shop ( when it opens) to place orders!

I did see the advice on not mounting the front plate and had the dealer take it off. Any experience being pullled over in NY for not having the front plate on?

Awesome. Congrats. I did almost the same thing you did. I figured..bird in hand...plus I was sick and tired of my old car (pontiac sunfire...I'm sure you can see why I would be tired of it...). Dealer had the color and most of the options I wanted right on the lot, I had to haggle since they tried to charge me a 3K premium, but ultimately I drove it home for just a little over msrp, which from what I've since learned about that dealer I did pretty well...lol.

Anyway, congrats on an awesome car. I'm sure you'll have as much fun driving it as I'm having in mine.

Oh, and I get all kinds of looks in my car too. (Personally I like to think it's because I'm bald...but it just may be the car....)

Congrats! Mine is black with red interior and I think it's the best choice of all the available colors. You got a great car and it's great that you're happy with it!

I too have a blk/red interior Sky and do not regret it one bit. I love the elegance/classiness/menacing look it has, plus the red interior really shines out and gives the car that extra sporty look. Yea, its a b*tch to keep clean, but when it is clean it looks just amazing. The time i think the car looks the absolute best is when the sun is starting to set and its a little darker out and you turn on the lights. Gorgeous.

BTW- I've been pulled over 3 times in the last 9 months. Each of the nice officers took a nice long look at the entire car, and none mentioned the front plate. If you do ever get a ticket, it's a fix-it ticket and you can decide what to do then. Enjoy!

Thanks for the invite! Weather permitting I will try to be there! I have yet to see another Sky on the road so to meet other owners will be fantastic. Drove the car to the Hamptons today - it now has 150 miles on it. I don't think anyone out east has ever seen a Sky either from the looks it received! I am not kidding when I say people were coming out of the stores on Main Street, Southmapton to look at it. I ran into a shop and came out to find 4 guys standing around drooling over my smokin hot car. No one can believe it is a Saturn. Day 2 with my Sky - I feel like I am living the best car commercial ever!
