wheels

okay here is something for you to give some input. I have been looking for some new wheels -18 inch for my Sky. I checked out the ones that rpi has but a bit out of my range. Nice wheels though. Here is my dilema;I have yet to find wheels with the stock specs. that will work. I know that kappashere has a few selections but not exactly what I am looking for. I called a local Saturn dealer and I was told that they tried to change the wheels on their dealership Sky and had "vibration problems." So do any of you have any suggestions? Have you changed your wheels and have you had any problems with handling or vibration any info would be great

I have had a set of different rims on my sky for the winter that had a 45mm offset and they didn't have any vibration problems as long as they were balanced properly. Here is a link to different types of rims that are available but they have the 45mm offset instead of 55.

You can put any after market wheel on your car. It is hubcentric. So you will not need any spacers or mini hubs. Just bolt them right on up. I found when I put 20s on my car it had a better feel for the road then the 18s did.

I had the same problem. I wanted a classy chrome wheel that weighed less than or equal to the stock chrome wheel - nothing more than 25 lbs. I searched for two months but found only the RPI and Kappasphere choices that you found, and rejected them for the same reasons. I settled for the stock chrome wheel. It is low cost and accents the silver graphite color very well. If you want to go to something other than chrome, or run with a heavier wheel, there are some nice choices out there.

I put Foose wheels on my Sky. They are the stock size and have I think a 45 offset instead of the 55 so they stick out a bit more. Can not feel a handling difference except maybe slightly better on corners. Probably slightly heavier than factory rims but who cares I am not racing for money or anything, this is a personal pleasure car for me.

Maybe a look at this thread would help a little- at least for looks:

Photoshop Request...Wheels

Paul was kind enough to do a bunch of photoshopping for people. I especially liked the way these came out on my Graphite:

Me too- the top pic looks a little too much like a whitewall tire for my taste.

These wheels are 45 offset in 19" but available in 18". Have not had any vibration or rubbing issues. Attached are photos of the RK Sport Sky at last years SEMA with painted rims and my GXP with chrome. I went with these rims because they are devoide of all those fake allen screws, clean classic look, and they have a deep lip.

I expected him to ask where he could buy the rims by now.

I Like your chrome rims. They look good. Do they make them in a 20"?

Well after all your comments and pics I guess I am going to stick with the chromies that came with the Sky. It is still a great looking car.
Thanks for your response.
