Whoops - Do NOT try this - EVER!

During our Run on Sat, someone with a lot of mods on their car, was not too familiar with them since putting them on:

Thank GOD no one was hit, hurt or damaged!

WOW! Damn lucky that pickup wasn't a bit closer! I thought he was going to hit that sign post when he turned back around on the grass.

I can See It, It's on YouTube

Holy Spinning tires Batman-- I can see the U-tube screen ok here-- I think he got lucky, obviously needs practice with all that power in his hands. Looked to me that he almost lost it again--Nice video catch BTW, you would assume he's highly embarrassed LOL. Does he know it's being broadcast to us?? Oh, BTW, I'm glad nobody was hurt, the oncoming traffic saw it coming looks like and moved over--lucky him--

What the hell!?!?

OK, being over enthusiastic may account for the near major accident that happened on the turn, but to then peel out when he got back on pavement simply shows that he is reckless, and will eventually have an accident.

I don't know who that was, and I don't want to start a flame war, but that was just irresponsible, and shows a lack of concern for himself, other drivers, and the car. Save it for the track!

I can guarantee that the drivers of the cars he nearly hit told everyone about "that "A**hole" in the SKY who nearly killed me then sped away."

Now get out and drive (fun but safe). Today is an awesome day in Michigan, and I'm headed to the Cider Mill!

He was very embarrassed for a while, and I think he spun back onto the pavement while still upset about spinning. But thank God no one or thing got hurt in the process.

As for the video, I actually sped up a little (you can hear my motor in the vid) to catch it on film. I could see it with my eyes, but knew my camera wasn't getting it all until I got in alignment with him.

He explained later that he did the "10 second" button hold on the TC Control switch because he was experimenting with how it would react.

Let's just say "lesson learned" about this.

BTW - He does know and approved of it's posting on the forums. He actually said I should title it "Dumb @ss" - but I just couldn't do that.

Anyone know if ESC was disabled?

Edit.. Never mind....might help if I read all the posts first.

Perhaps I need an ESC for reading the forums?

This might be a good thing, as it shows how things can get out of hand very quickly without our safety net. Recommend experimenting with TC/ESC in a controlled setting, or on a track...not on the roadways. Remember folks, we have short wheelbase. Once you get loose, it takes more skill and experience to recover than longer wheelbase performance cars (e.g., 350Z, Vette).

Being one that has spun my first Sky out (It did not have traction or stability control) I leave mine on all the time while driving on the street... making an abrupt swerve can throw you into a spin before you realize it... Best thing I do now is try to keep a reasonable distance from the car in front of me just in case they straddle something in the road that my Sky cannot.... of course if traffic is heavy it is hard to do because some idiot will try to duck in front of you if you leave one inch more than a car length...
Lets just drive reasonably on the street, It isn't a race track...

Idiot!!!

Play around on the track and NOT public streets. Public streets ARE NOT the place for "seeing how it would act".

mods

This is one of those great object lessons. Mods should start with control. Braking, handling, and PRACTICE. Then slap on the power.

Have to stick up for him a bit here. We were all just starting the run and a bit "giddy" if you will. We all took that turn a bit fast, a few barked tires. Anyway even with ESC on it was crappy prior to our run. Probably got a bit quick, hit a patch and off he wen't. I was towards the front so I missed it. After the spin he was scared and embarrassed as anyone would have been. Got back on the road a bit quick and fishtailed a little more. I KNOW he learned from this so I see no reason to call him names. Suffice to say it was lucky no one got hurt and I for one am glad it turned out as well as it did.

Thanks Birtales. I have to agree on this one. I neglected to include this fact.

And for everyone else... I will not name who it was. If he wants to "raise his hand" that's up to him. I just posted to show what happened.

We all have done this at one time or another, I bet it got your attention 2, and you prolly crapped in your pants when it happened... He learned a lesson on the power of this car. I bet it won't happen to him again. Cudos to him for keeping control over that monster and having the whits about him to get off the gas and still have some control over that sky AND not hurting anyone else, himself or the car--

The most important thing this video just goes to show how quickly things can get out of control.. WE ALL need to be careful when there is other traffic around.

Pretty cool video. It's entertaining, educational, and web worthy.

I've done this with my first rear drive car in the wet...I'll not be throwing stones.

Glad no one was hurt!
