Will the trunk release button work at hiway speeds?

I just pu my car that was in storage for the winter at my parents 3 1/2 hrs from my place. I had left a set of keys when I stored my car but brought a set with me just in case. While driving home I started to think what if I reached in my pocket and pushed the trunk release button by mistake while driving down the hiway? Would it pop up and get bent back or ripped off the car? Does anyone know what would happen? It scared me to think about it!

No it won't pop open. for automatic transmissions, I think the car has to be in park in order for the trunk to open. For manual transmissions, I think it is a speed thing, if the car is moving faster than 5 miles per hour, I think, it won't open.

Disabled for manual and automatic transmissions. I tried it for fun once with my manual. Won't open.

It will only pop open if your victim gets a hold of the manual emergency rip cord inside, on the way to the national forest. Then again they would have to be in pieces to fit so that might not be possible anyway......nevermind...
