Zits

Maybe it's me, but I really get ticked off at states that force people to put a plate on the front of a car, especially the Sky. In older cars they were in a place made for them in the bumper where they were low and didn't detract from the looks of the car as they do on the Sky. In states where you didn't have to put a front plate there, you could add something personal there, like your name, favorite sports logo or something to personalize your car. Now it's like going around with a big nasty zit on the end of your nose. If they did that here, I would seriously consider moving.

We need to do a test where we determine that the front plate disrupts the airflow around the car and reduces gas mileage. Then we can compute that we would be saving gas (or better yet -reducing emissions) and that we can save a gobzillion tons or gallons of whatever... The idiot politicians will buy into the bogus science, and once the greenies get hold of it we will have a law outlawing front plates in every state!

Hey, it's worth a shot. If people can buy into man-made global warming carbon credits, this should be a walk in the park!

Front plates? front plates? I don't use no friggin' front plate Supposed to but I never have any problem not having them mounted. Besides it is just a $10 fine. Only be ticketed once, taped the front tag to the bumper, took a pix,. and sent it to the court, case dismissed

Gotta admit, I also took the advice of MORE THAN ONE person from a few of our meets and took the back one off as well. Man does it look better, I just leave that nice dealer sticker in the front window and enjoy the cars lines!

In my area of New York you will not rest in peace without one. Been there done that, no plate ....no peace. And in NY it is a $50 fine, and there is a point (i believe 3 tickets for same equipment failure) where you need to appear in court. Damn Nazi's

$60 in the peoples republic of maryland. i drove for 6 mos before getting one. it is just another tax. they also want to be sure you have something to bounce the laser off so they can try to stick you with a $150 speeding ticket.

i put a bracket below the leftmost edge of the lower front fascia and hung the plate there.. about 1 inch above the road and swept back about 45 degrees.

ya, the peoples' republic also has 10 pages of regulations describing the location and angle of the plate, permissible plate covers, etc. but i figure the police are unlikely to have a ruler.

The only good use we ever had for a plate (on the back), was to hang our car club plaque off of.

What a coincidence... Mine just happen to fall off into the same place... Must have something to do with the air flow around and over our Sky's...

The funny thing about our state is they supposedly require front plates BUT if you get collector car plates they only send you ONE & they will not under any circumstances issue you a 2nd one. Now figure that one out!
But the cops here have never (knock wood) fussed at us for not having front plates on any of our cars that they aren't on.
Hubby has always hated front plates ... whenever we are in a different state he tells them it is not required in our state & they let us go merrily along.

Now - for the good news, I think we have figured out how to get the front plate holder that was installed by the dealership (which they say they automatically do because of state law) off my Saffy without damaging the bumper. Crossing fingers here!

Strictly by coincidence! When mine fell off into my trunk. I happened to be holding a drill in my hand.Apparently the pop rivets were faulty because the heads came off

And DE allows people to sell plate numbers for hundreds of thousands of dollars... one just set a record at auction, I think that was number 6 or something... it may have hit over a million... I'll have to look it up.

No more zit for me

Yes, we here in New York are definitely required to have the front plate.

I ordered a flip license plate holder for mine. I recently saw it on a Solstice and thought it was great. I ordered it Sunday and had it by Wednesday. By the way, no drilling involved.

Other than speeding, don't need to give anyone a reason to pull me over.

Yes, yes they do. But only the antique black/white plates. I have the modern version on my Sky which you can now buy and use. The original #1 is on the Governor's car, #2 is for the Lt. Gov and #3 is for the Sec of State. The lower the number, the more they are worth. That last one that was sold, #11, went for $675,000.00.
