Ahhh, I was blown away by the looks the first time I saw one and when I researched it, the value and technical design backed up the looks. The base model didn't have quite enough power though so I was originally going to go with a Mallett version. Then the RedLine was announced and that was just perfect... (OK, I lie, I'd like more horsepower but this is a better value in regards to the dollar / horsepower ratio.)

Actually my wife wants it... she hates looking at cars, but all of a sudden she wanted to go to the saturn dealership and look at a Sky Redline. Nice looking car, but I am concerned about tranny leaks and other problems I have been reading about on the forum. Dealership said 3 -4 months for delivery?? I need to find out what everybody really thinks!

I got tired of working on my convertible corvette and wanted something hot that didn't require work to enjoy.

I came across the Lotus Elise, and my heart went out to it. This was to be my new car! The wife even agreed with me! (for the moment) I started fixing up the corvette and getting it ready to sell.

My wife comes to get me and shows me a pic of the Sky. "Nice", I say, "but I would not get rid of my vette for that one." I did go and look at the Sky, and I was told about the R/L coming out. This sounded promising to me. The specs were very, very nice, and the car had a nice agressive look to it. (second to the Lotus)

Hours before the Lotus sale was to go thru (and after I was approved for the financing), my wife said not to get the Lotus. It was just to costly and the dealer was way to far away.

The next day, I put down money for my R/L and that is what got me here. I have since bought a B/L Sky for now, and still have my corvette which is still seeing upgrades. Maybe this year it will get paint!

After coming from a 350z and G35 coupe I was interested in a stock turbo car with RWD to modify. It's much more difficult/expensive to get good numbers from a NA car than it is a FI car.

I am a Corvette guy, but I like the front styling on the sky better than the happy go lucky face on the C6 vette. Nothing would ever replace my 68 toy car, but I like the RL with some power adding mods. Hope the C7 headlights are more to my taste or I may have a sky for a daily driver.

well I have been looking for a good priced roadster for years and for a car to save up for. I dont like the newer Miatas, can't afford the BMWs or Benz, Wasn't sold on the front of the Solstice, but when I saw the sky I fell in love. Also my dad has a saturn and they were so delightful to deal with at the dealership

I've had a sports car since I turned 18, so its definitely not a mid-life crisis

I sold my classic 1955 (first year production) MG A to buy my Sky ... hated to do it but I was afraid to leave it unattended in parking lots, even if I just needed to run in a drugstore for a minute. After 3 years of only being able to drive it on Sunday afternoon's ... when its nice, and then when I saw the Sky, I knew this was the car for me!

Getting my Sky gave me back a lot of amenities ... turn signals, radio, a top that doesn't take 15 minutes to get up and roll up windows (a big plus over bolt-ons)! Plus I get AC, 4 wheel disc brakes ...

I really enjoy the capabilities of a performance oriented vehicle. However, there also has to be a certain amount of livability. The suspension on the Lotus Elise is just too harsh to allow She-who-must-be-obeyed to join in on the fun. Checked out several other cars (S2k, 350Z, etc) and all things considered, including looks, Sky Redline wins.

Why not?

On Gulf Coast Alabama the Sols were the first to get here. There were about five in town I would catch glimpses of. Then they showed up at the dealers so I went and test drove but never put the money down and sealed the deal. Then the guys started talking about the Saturn Sky. Had no idea what it looked like so I looked on the Saturn website. Instant Love at First Site. So I went to the Saturn dealer to drive one. I thought the salesman was going to laugh. He showed me his picture book instead and asked for a deposit. I said no gotta drive it. SO I waited and checked everyday for one to show up and one Friday at lunch there she was, took her home that night for the test drive and never gave them back the keys.

I have always had sporty cars. I have never owned a 4-door in my life.
Even my "grocery getters" have been sporty.
I had hit a spot in my life where I could afford an extra toy and knew I wanted a 2-seater.
My dear husband had unsuccessfully been trying to talk me into a Viper or Solstice when I spotted a SKY at a car show months before they began selling them.
It was up in the air on a turntable. I stopped dead in my tracks and pointed at it. My husband was in total shock that it was a Saturn.
I discovered that they would be putting a RL into production at a later date and decided to wait for the 2nd year of higher HP. (I am very patient and never buy 1st production of anything.)
I bided my time and when I was ready to make a deposit for ordering, we walked into a dealership that just happened to have EXACTLY what I wanted.
3 hours later - we had each taken it for test spins, signed the papers, and I was driving my 2008 Midnight Blue baby home with a HUGE permagrin on my face.

i'm buying one because i was looking for a front engine, rear drive, factory turboed car with a limited slip differential and a double wishbone suspension. with as close to a 50/50 weight distribution as possible and with a decent curb weight and price.

the sky redline fits the bill. and it looks dam nice, especially in silver pearl

Voted other, here's why ...

Don't ride the Hog nearly as much as I used to. When I was younger and single, I used to travel all over the country on her, 20k miles or more a year was not unusual. Then I got married, had kids, and the wife decided that she wouldn't ride on the back anymore and risk both of us dying at once.

That was many moons ago, and in that time, I have been to literally dozens of funerals for buddies of mine killed in bike wrecks. Every time I go, I wonder if I'm next, and what will happen to my wife and kids if I am. Sure, I have plenty of insurance and all that, but will the money replace their Daddy? Can't live in a box, but I'm getting older, my reflexes and reaction time are not what they once were, and the drivers here in Phoenix seem to be getting worse instead of better. Plus, running my group sucks up a whole lot of time, and trying to arrange a bike trip takes up more time than throwing a small bag into a car, even one with as little space as the Sky

So, given all that, my riding time has been drastically reduced lately. I started thinking that it might be nice to get a little sports car that the wife and I could do weekend trips in together, without all the contortions needed to go on the bike. But it was just a thought, didn't really put any effort into it.

Then I saw this car on the road one day ...

Didn't know what it was, but it sure looked sexy, so I got up closer to it. After getting a good look at it, all that kept going through my head was Will Smith in "Independence Day", saying, "I have GOT to get me one of THESE!" But when I looked at the badging, I could swear it was a Saturn emblem.

Nah, couldn't be ...

So when I got home, I looked at the Saturn website, and sho' 'nuff ...

Talked to the wife about it, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Was looking for a cool weekend only car. My other car is a Dodge Caravan 2006. I like it and still want to keep it and use it for hauling my drums around, snowboarding, beach biking etc. I was originally looking at 350Z's and my buddy said you have to check out the Saturn Sky.....when I saw it I was hooked. After reading reviews and seeing how many people loved them in this forum I test drove one and put a down payment on 10/02/07. Still waiting for delivery.....

For me cars have always had to meet 3 requirements for me to like one.

1. 2 Doors
2. Rear Wheel Drive
3. Stick shift

The Sky meets those 3 plus when you throw in that it looks great and is also a convertible how could I not buy one?

I haven't ridden in too many convertibles in my life. I recently got one as a rental car and I loved it. I have been riding motorcycles (dirt and street) since I was 10 (with a helmet) so driving a convertible was like being on a bike without a helmet. Well, as far as having the wind in my hair. So I decided that my next car WOULD BE a convertible. I think the Sky looks GREAT and even though I thought it would be nice to have a 4 seater, with a trunk, with a power top the looks of the Sky trumped all of that.

Plus I never had a cool sports car in my teenage years. (Sniff, sniff). So I've *GOT* to do that before I die.

My wife always wanted a sports car. We bowl and on the way to the lanes we pass a Pontiac and then a Saturn dealership. She saw the Solstice and wasn’t impressed, but when she saw the Sky, a whole different story. After months of boy I love that car, I just had to break down and buy her a fully loaded Chili Red Turbo!

I have had a fleet of Covertibles since I first started driving. This is the first one since 97 that I liked and could afford.
