Over on Solstice forum, Moms said that Gm was building up the stock or something like that.....Sorry, too lazy to go find it again. I was led to believe she was refering to the sensors. Over at the HHR forum, a guy from a Chevy dealer posted an email he got from GM Parts saying "2 months", and it was dated mid September.

I'm just the messenger, and have no info myself....

I think the CARB cert stuff proves that there is a tune. As for performance numbers and a timetable, most of that is mostly speculation. However I am hoping the rumor that the manuals will be getting 315 hp/310 torque is true.

Living in the North and given that it is already mid-October, I will probably be waiting until the Spring to buy this tune anyway. So at this point the exact release date doesn't matter so much to me.

I'm thinking the same thing...getting ready to put "her" away for the winter. Spring fever will set in and then the tune will be that much more exciting

Is it real or is it Memorex?

My gf called the Saturn dealer near me to ask about the ECM tune for my '08 RL MT; the part number (posted somewhere here) didn't work, but the guy went on about how he thought they'd have to send out the ECM etc. etc. as if he had heard all about it.

Methinks that's some sort of admission it is real....one can hope...

LOL The last thing I want is some dealer tech pulling the ECM out of the car. That is how things get broken.

When I spoke to the parts guy at my Pontiac dealership, he said that the "kit" comes with a certificate with a code than enables them to download the tune off of a GM website and load it onto your car. No need to remove the ECM from your car - they just plug a tool into your OBD port and download the tune onto the ECM.

It would not. Saturn Motorsports is not affiliated with GM. That is an aftermarket tune

315? Wow... did I miss those rumors in this thread?

That's the number circulating for the new upgrade. 315/310 for the manuals and 290/290(?) for the automatics. I think they're afraid the auto transmission can't handle the power, but I'm certain I'm over 290 crank and driving fine (maybe not warranteeable though). Those numbers are crank numbers not wheel numbers though. There are several folks doing 330+ crank but again without warranty.

Yep, that's how they did the Stage 2 install for my Ion Red Line. You will also have a unique number should ANY work on the ECM be required that the tech will have to call in for authorization.

Ask Don Knowles or Bill Ziegler if there is a tune .... ask PhoenixPerformance Racing if they have worked with any of the GM Performance engineers.

Just because it hasn't come about yet doesn't mean it does NOT exist. There ARE legalities that MUST be met (thanks California and CARB)

Well, thats a number someone found on an HHR website where they were discussing the tune. Since the HHR has the same engine as the Redline and GXP, some are wondering if the rumor is true and if the numbers would be the same for our cars.

All of the rumors that I have heard of through the Solstice/Sky communities have said 290 hp/310 torque, with no differentiation between manual and automatic transmissions.

When did it jump from 290HP to 310HP?

Original info (for manual) was 290HP and 310 lb-ft.

Original info (for auto) 288HP and less torque than manual.

Is this HP-to-torque creep, or is there some substance behind the change?

Swirling speculation in the vacuum of hard info. The 315bhp has been floating around and revived from a claim on a HHR forum. We'll have just have to wait and see...

Here are some posts extracted from over on the sol side:

The claim was that that info came from GMSPO. Any idea whether those HHR numbers, if true, will be realized on the Kappas?
Still looking for the original reference to the HHR forum post, though.

No part number for the auto transmission stage kit yet. Horsepower will go to 290hp @ 5200 rpm.

And as stated by jookster somewhere around 2 months before they are released.

This information comes from GMSPO (GM Parts).

IIRC the two competing numbers have been bouncing around earlier than this claim. Folks from the Mecca tour were told 290. On the sol forum some folks claim 315 from an earlier NOPI event. The Mecca numbers are more recent, aren't they? The post from ChevyMgr speaks of only the HHR, and again, till we see the official GM claim, <shrug>, ...
