He should go for the carrier-born fighter approach, catapulted off like a shot, then coming to a stop so fast at the end of the "flight" it'll freak people out.

Bogie, most people would think about the thrust the shuttle has on take off, only an engineer would look at it from the opposite end.

Dealers recently received a notice that it was coming along with an install operation code which claimed "soon". Just gotta see when they show up.

Turbo Noob

Is this Tune suppose to give you 290hp to the rear wheel or 290 to the fly?

Very strongly suspect they're talking at the crank, as we hear talk of going from 260 to 290.

This has been my impression all along too. 290WHP would be quite an upgrade and even if the stock turbo can do 350 @ the crank when wrung out for every bit of power GM doesn't want to support maxing a platform and then having to repair all the crap that is going to break. I would feel the same way if I were them.

Question and thought...

Questions: The GM official 290 tune needs two new sensors. The Westers tune (which reportedly gets around 290 at the WHEEL) does not need new sensors.
What are the sensors doing and why does GM think they need them for thier tune? Is it to contol emissions? Would a non-supported tune (Westers) run the risk of failing inspection emissions test?

Thought: I am still holding out to see pricing, HP and features (NLS and LC) of the GM tune... but if its not a good combo of those items... i'll grab the westers.

(By "not a good combo" I mean... something like price ends up close to 1000, without the extra features)

Indeed, my apoligies. No more talk of compressor maps on this thread.

Once again back to the original theme of the thread, the reason for new Map and T-map is simple. They are clearly an expanded range sensor with a matchting OS. There would be Zero reason to do otherwise.

To keep things in the right place I moved all the posts reffering to the turbo map to the newly started thread about just that...

Back to your program in progress...

Does this mean that you have the numbers for the upgrade? Not being an engineer I don't always understand some of the lingo.

Well, the complete Stage II Kit consists of two sensors and a software upgrage for your ECM.

It appears that he has found out the part numbers for the two sensors, which are basically sub-components in the Kit.

Ultimately, there should be a unique part number for the full Stage II Kit, which has not yet been released.

So no, we don't yet have the part number we need to be able to order this upgrade from the dealership.

hmmm...could this open up additional third party tuning options?
Meaning... if you could buy the sensors seperate from the gm tune at a lesser price, than would it open up the aftermarket guys to do even mo' crazy stupid things with the tune?

Not that it matters... just curious

It will require both. The hard part is writing the opsystem to understand that 5v is no longer 255kpa,but now 300 or 350kpa.

Once the op system and sensors are in place I'm sure we can get HPT to wirte a definition file for it. THis will allow tuners like myself to use that as a jumpoff for crazy horsepower with the associated hardware.

Building arms and legs is easy. It's the brain that's the hard part.

No disrespect, but writing the code for 255kpa to 300/350kpa for me would be the easy part...just saying OK
