Another lowering question...

This may be a stupid question, but I don't know the answer and can't find it here in the forum...

I want to lower my car with either the Eibach sportline springs or the springs from Kappasphere. I currently have 20" rims (245.35.20).

My question is this:
If I lower the car now with my 20" rims and decide later on to go back to 18" rims will the car still look as though the top of the wheel and the wheel well meet? OR, will I somehow screw something up and have to go through the lowering process again?

Which springs would be better to go with and why for my situation?

Thank you guys.

-Nick

The diameter of those 20" tires is practically the same as the stock 18" tires, so everything will look the same.

Thank you.

Does anyone else have any more feedback?

The wheel well is going to meet the wheel/tire at a fixed distance from the center of the wheel. If you tweak car to meet the wheel well at 10 inch radius, the well will meet the 20 inch wheels where the wheel meets the tire. An 18 inch wheel will end one inch shy of the same point, showing an inch of rubber from the wheel to the well.

The vehicle height and well clearance will remain almost unchanged since the 20 inch wheel/tire combo is only 0.035 inch radius greater than stock. The load deformation on the 18 inch might reduce the clearance a wee bit more, but should not affect the well clearance or appearance except as noted above.

245.45.18 diameter (Stock): 26.68
245.35.20 diameter: 26.75

I have 18" aftermarket wheels and the Kappasphere (Eibach) springs. Here is the gap on those so you can see...it's perfect in my opinion.

LOL The way I drive(HARD!) and average road conditions and pulling into shopping center parking lots and such, the front already hits, for me any lowering of this car would destroy the frame and the lower front body pieces, but good luck getting the look you want. I use mine as a commuter making it lower would make it no longer feasible as a commuter.

Another option would be to get a coilover kit that would allow you to adjust as needed if you switch from 20s to 18s and back.
