No sense getting their low restriction exhaust, if the catalyst is now the weakest link, right?

By the way, I don't actually need the catalyst as there is no smog inspection in my state.

Thx.

The street race exhaust will give you that sound you are looking for and with a catless downpipe (since there is no smog inspection in your state) you will get the max performance and sound from your car. Removing the catalytic converter and just haveing solo put in a catless downpipe will net you the best resaults and allow you to get max performance out of your car. However, I am not sure if there is another way aside form tuneing out the cell that you will trip by removing the cat. The Hi-Flow cat that Solo sells has a O2 extender that relocates the sensor to a different part of the exhaust stream and keeps the car from activating a cell.

Know, unless you have a tune any modes you do to your exhuast will only resault in a change in noise as the stock programe in your car will "learn down" any performance gains.

I have a reflash by Performance by Joe. Dyno says I'm making about 320 hp (estimate at crank). Will I need another reflash or will the ECU adapt on it's own?

I am not famillliar with that tune, so I would ask Joe how it is programed and if any tweaking is required. Ask him if you trip a cell by removing your cat if he can turn off that sensor in his tune.

If it matters to you as it does to me you will also be removing more weight from your car. The Solo Hi-flow cat is a good 4-5 lbs less then the factory one and if you go catless thats 10lbs (save 1lbs for the downpipe) off the car right there. The Street race exhaust has to be 15-20 lbs less with the delete of that horrendously large factory muffler.

I do know that you will get a nice bump in power and sound by removing the cat, or by going with a hi-flow version. If you have any questions about solo products give them a call. They are a great group of guys and would be happy to answear any questions you may have about thier products.

I've seen that RPi GT video before and there is no way that's a GT system. I bought a GT from them a while back brand new and the thing is pretty dang loud. One of the best sounding systems on a 4-cylinder IMO.

Our garage is on the other side of the house with no attachments to the main house other than a door. When she starts that thing up in the morning it vibrates stuff in our master bedroom and wakes me up.

It does that with the stock version as well on a cold startup.
I too will be looking for a good exhaust system but after my warranty ends (still have 2 years left).

The exhaust doesn't affect the warranty.

Someone said the RPi system isn't available any more. Is that true?

I vote the RPi GT. It's low, not loud, very mellow, and the fit & finish of the exhaust is superb. They're not offered any more but I may have one for sale as I am selling my Sky which has an RPi GT exhaust that I put on last fall.

Made a Purchase!

I want to thank everyone for their help. I decided to go with the last set that RPi had. The different size round outlets and T304 Stainless Steel probably pushed me over the edge. And the You Tube sound bytes that were thoughtfully posted. These are the same tips, and material, as on their $3700 Porsche systems, or so they say. Anyway, it looks like really high quality construction. Really looking forward to getting it. Thanks so much.

Actually according to GM EU it does, not to mention that here we have other "laws" regarding sound pollution so most of these solutions are not street legal.

And all those high end screaming race cars from Germany and Italy are? That is not an attack on you but rather on any laws that would make aftermarket exhausts for our 4 cylinders illegal while allowing those Lamborghini's, ferrari's,
and Porsche's (just to name a few) fall within sound pollution laws

I have never heard of any dealership deny warranty coverage b/c of an aftermarket exhaust unless it applied to the OEM exhaust. Having said that, my local GM dealer sold and installed my Magnaflow and put in the service record that any issues with the exhaust or install where to be treated and covered under GM warranty. Go figure
