Crashed my Redline

Crash is hardly a word to describe what happened, but I got into a fender bender in my Redline. I was turning right onto the highway, and the person in front decided not to go and hit their brakes while I was checking over my left shoulder at other traffic and when I turned back A big bumper was in my face. I was still in first, and on the clutch, so I couldn't have been going over 10 mph. Anyways my front bumper shifted towards the passengers side slightly, and the plastic that goes around the fog lights and turbo intakes cracked on the passenger side. Anybody know where I can get these parts? I'd like to not file a claim on it if I can. If there are aftermarket ones out there that are very similar to stock, I'd be okay with that, but I don't really want to have to paint it if I don't have to.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome to the forum! Yeah, not a "crash", but no doubt feels the same. Sorry to hear that. Sounds like just one of those things. Ya might want to check your parts dept to get a baseline price. I don't recall any aftermarket alternatives for the parts you're going to need. Keep us posted on your progress.

If you have a black one ask Barry who his Dealer is they have a wrecked one with no front end damage. Sometimes two wrongs (accidents) make a right!

I am begining to think that this is a scam. I have had three people in the last week do that exact same thing. They stop it is clear to turn an then they go, but halfway in the intersection they come to a complete stop for no reason.

I think they know you are going to be looking at traffic noting they just took off. They looking back are probably watching you. When you start to go they stop then wait.

The first time it happened it barely bumped the car in front of me. I was in my Explorer and it did no damage not even a scratch to my bumper and she had a 4 Runner with the chrome bumper and a huge hitch sticking out. She jumped out and said "you better have insurance give me your insurance!" I was like ok, but there is no damage to the cars. She was claiming that some bumper damage that was probably there before because my car was way to high and it would be hard to hit her bumper with the tow hitch sticking out so far without hitting that first.

I was there at the scene and noticed that she had several impacts in the rear at different angles. She did not even seem concerned when she opened her door on my door and scratched up her own door. The police didn't even write up a police report because there was no damage to my vehical so he could not confirm damage to hers where she was saying.

So watch out this may be a new insurance scam going around.

Parts LKQ Used Car Parts Locator for used parts if they have them. If not call around to the local junk yards. Ebay is a good place to find some parts, also the forums. Check your local Craigslist as well.

I had one of those idiots in my truck the other day when it was pouring down raining. a little 3000lb car in front of a 7000lb truck and i couldnt stop. I blared on the train horn and off the road they drove to get out the way.

Gotta love hornblasters :P

Unfortunately, this possibility exists. FYI--a scam which went through our area was where they short stop you from the front, or bump you from the back--then hijack the car when you get out to exchange information. We all need to be careful because these scammers rely on our emotional state at the time to let our guard down.

T--unfathomable to think of any circumstances under which you would be okay without your sky!!!

Welcome to the forum. Sorry about the bender.

What you describe is actually a pretty common fender bender occurrence.

I tried that site and they do not have a listing for newer than 2006, nor do they even have a picklist for SKY's. Bummer.

My baby (SNOW WHITE) is at the dealership. I am having my convertible top replaced. A 2 or 3 day repair is taking almost 2 weeks. When they took off the material, I had issues with the framing of the convertible. They needed more parts. I miss her. Dirving is no fun at all. The loaner car is so boring. T.

close calls

I have had a couple close calls like that - seems hard to believe that if I see that I have enough time to pull out after the person in front of me has (presumably) already gone - how could that person possibly not think they have enough space.

After a couple close calls - I am much more careful to ensure that the car in front of me is well and truly gone before I go.
