New Redline Owner Here...

Hey guys, just thought I'd introduce myself. My GF just picked up her new '08 Redline yesterday. And we absolutely think the car is bitchen! My only complaint is the lack of room in it lol...

It's her car, yet I wanna mod the hell out of it LOL... guys and their gf's toys... go figure...

anyways, since I'm new to the whole Saturn Sky thing.... I have absolutely NO clue who reputable dealers are for aftermarket stuff for these cars, and what the typical starting mods are that everyone does... (i'm guessing the usual intake/exhaust as with most cars)... it's our first TURBO car, but I am very GM literate when it comes to engines and such so...

anyways, without further ado... here's some pics

oh... and here's a few pics of MY baby

Welcome to the forum. I would strongly suggest you let GF drive it "as is" for six months to a year before you start any mods. Although the SKYs are generally reliable, I believe it's a good idea to keep 'em stock until you're sure everything is in order.

Also, you say YOU want to mod it. Does GF want the mods?

Is she used to high performance driving? Use the 100HP rule. If the RL is more than 100 horses greater than the car she drove previously, you don't want to touch it until she gets used to those extra horses.

Having a Pontiac yourself, I'm suprised you'll went with the Sky and not the Solstice. Did she (and you) prefer the looks of the Sky?

There's plenty of mods you can do. Start with a stubbie antenna and tint the taillights. That should look really good on a white car. I would definetly do the exhaust. Many here prefer Magnaflow, RPI, or Solo. There are several more including GM's and Borla.

thanks for the welcome everyone

yea, she had a 2006 mitsubishi eclipse GT before this... so the hp is roughly about the same... but two totally different cars.

to be honest, we still don't know what this thing is packing as we haven't really "gotten on it" yet... still breaking it in properly ya know

as far as "who wants to mod it?" well, of course I want to LOL... but she has made it clear that she wants the "chooosh" sound that all the turbo cars make... I explained to her that's the blow off valve

from the little i've read on here, it says the car comes with one...? But I haven't heard anything... but like I said, we haven't really gotten on it yet...

yea... I am a pontiac fan, but we both agreed the sky was more of the styling and "look" we were going for... besides... in the end, the general makes em all anyways right?

Well, it doesn't have a traditional BOV that vents to atmosphere but a bypass valve integrated as part of the turbo that vents the blow back to the low side of the turbo. It makes a chooosh sound, but it is very subdued. I didn't notice it at first, but once I heard it, now I hear it all the time. Many folks never hear it.

I see... so could I go pick up one of those HKS super sequentials and throw on there? I've heard those are some of the nicest BOV's out there... are they pretty much universal...?
