No 08 tunes :(

I wish the vendors would hurry up and finish making the 08 tunes. Wester only has the lame tune and thats it as far as I know. I want to buy a turbo upgrade but I'm waiting for the tunes to be released.

Anyone wanna trade their 07? lol

Oh there are turbo upgrades. $2300 will get you in to the 450 whp range.

You need to go the route of Westers then HP tuners.

BSR does raise the boost, but it sux with mods.

I am talking with a guy that might even have a cheaper mod $625 for westers tune. Bolt in a big 16G with the kits from Dejon or buy the kit yourself and piece it together.

You can use HP tuners, but you can't control RPM's so you need Westers where you can. Then use the HP tuners to tune fuel, cams. You could probably get APEXI controller to do all this though and still have boost per gear. I will purchase one and let you know if it will work. I used them in my Eclipse, MR2, and RSX. Only problem with Apexi is that you have to cut and splice into the wiring harness to the ECU. In today's world it is so much easier to have a program to upload through the OBDII port like HP tuners to adjust things plus they give you free updates for life. Which means as they decode the ECU and bring more stuff available online to change you get it free. Also you can datalog. Yet, having to purchase two tunes is exotic along with a $2300 kit.

They have the $1800 kit available, with the 16G turbo is the best of both worlds quick spooling, but I think the Big 16G would be better same bolt up locations. 16G is 505 CFM the Big 16G 550 CFM and they have almost the same spool times.

Thats the thing, I would like to buy from someone who plans to tune aftermarket turbos so when I do upgrade, I can just pay the difference. So far it looks like Wester is the only one that will be doing that. The problem is, Wester doesn't have the better tune for 08's yet. I have no interest in stepping back 10 years in time and using a SAFC, lol.

As for turbos, I have my eyes on a GT3076R.

They said the GT3076R will not spool as fast as the 16G also you will have a small RMP range to use the boost. The boost does not come on until 3500 and maxes out way after the redline which is 6K right now. Until you can up the RMP's you will never see the power.

Yeah, SAFC is back there. Yet, Apexi has a new one that does it all and it is bad ass with an LCD color screen I think it is even touch control. Even with the turbo upgrades you still need a manual or electric boost controller that is way I say Apexi. I say go HP Tuners you won't have the RPM modification for a while, but you can dyno tune. Apexi to control the boost per gear amonst other things if needed heck it might be able to control the RPM at what $400 less than purchasing the Westers.

You probably need to talk with the people at Dejon. I talked with them the other day and they filled me in on all I would need to get the best performance for my appication which is street. I am aiming for the 375 whp. It is what they called the middle turbo.

The guy was informing me said he dropped back to the 16G because it spools faster and is better for street driving.

I can tell you I almost bought a STi with 450 whp had all the stuff IC, pipes big turbo. It was not for street driving took forever to spool and when it did it rocked, but only for a small duration. The turbo was insane on power, but lag and drivabilty was not useful for the street.

I plan on raising the rev limit to 7k when I upgrade. If it spools at 3500 thats fine for me. I'd rather have a powerband that doesn't drop off in the higher rpms. For example on my ZX2, I dropped over half a second off my 1/4 mile just by changing to a bigger turbo with a stronger powerband. Same boost, same everything else. That turbo spools at 3500 so I'm used to "lag", I'd rather have power where it counts. I don't really need to speak with anyone about turbos, I already know what I need.

I'd rather wait until the proper tuning software becomes available instead of trying to band aid it. Doesn't the ecu have adaptive learning anyways? So whatever changes I would make would eventually be changed back to stock.

Yes, I looked at an 08 for mine with all the options that I wanted. 37K drive out. I found just what I was looking for on ebay 25K for an 07 with 2K miles.

Saved so much cash I had enough to buy some upgrades.

What we need is a programmable ECU like AEM's One company is bound to come out with something.

I see most used 07's going for like 25-28K, I got my new fully loaded 08 for 32k otd. The ECU's aren't swappable are they?

Straight ECU swap does not work. However, I think that an ECU & BCM swap would work.

Im gonna get the BSR soon. My exhaust is on order so im gonna get that and roll with that for a few months. But everything ive heard shows the BSR being the best tuner right now for plug and play.

Than im gonna get the hahn intercooler
