P1826 code?

Hello--first time in the forum. I have a 2008 automatic Redline that is giving this diagnostic code. Reads: INTERNAL MODE SWITCH CIRCUIT C. No one is familiar with it. First started coming up when I would make a slow u-turn. When coming out of the u-turn, car would jerk, service traction message and lights would come on and car would continue to jerk hard when applying breaks. Feels like something in grabbing/breaking back tires and then releasing it. From someone watching you, it would probably look like you were just learning to drive a stick. Also, red light goes away when you are in drive, park, reverse and neutral lights will light up, but not drive light and it will stop locking and unlocking car. Will do this all day when running errands--same problem when you get back in car, but after sitting all night would be fine in the morning with no codes or service lights on. Not until you do a slow sharp turn or u-turn and then it happens again. All mechanics said, you need a transmission guy. Found the best transmission guy and he drove it for several days, researched, talked with GM and decided to replace wire harness and switch on the valve body inside transmission. Took wire harness off and realized neutral mode switch not inside wire harness, but buried deep inside transmission. He talked with GM again and they said they would never go that deep inside transmission but would recommend replacing transmission. He is determined not to have to do that and is looking into exactly what he has to do and will get me a quote on Monday, but said he would come in 40% less than GM.

Anybody familiar with this?
