IMHO - The car is what the Vin# information says it is.... That you can't change no matter how many colors you put on your car...

Every panel replaced for custom fiberglass (execept doors). Engine changed. suspension upgraded brakes and wheels changed, Interior changed, converted to Right hand drive. Not much of the original car left (cost of conversion more than $100,000) and the VIN# still says Pontiac Solstice

Very true, however....

I think that most owners who do this are shallow and don't care what the VIN says, they just care what the car looks like on the outside more than what shows up on a VIN search (like me)

Let's be honest, we all love are cars nomatter what, but there are a lot of other options available to us that could be comparable or even better for the price. Many of us bought the cars because of the way they look. (maybe not all of us, but I sure know that's why I bought it, well along with the fact that it has 4 wheels and gets me where I need to go as well.... and yes I'm admitting I'm shallow )

And so some of us take it a few steps further and make cosmetic changes to the car to better suit our desire for what looks best to us. The European logos don't change the car, but they do change the look. It's like a pretty girl with makeup, she's still the same girl underneath it, but she still puts on that makeup everyday.

If Opel never recieved the Kappa, I probably would have shelled out for some custom emblems that would match the car better IMO (in fact, I still want to find a chrome version of the Saturn logo in a circular Opel like shape) but since there were Euro emblems readily available, I'm sure many of us just felt like adding that little change to our cars.

My VIN can say all it wants to me when I look it up, but all I know is I've got what I feel to be the best cosmetic enhancements available to my car, and I'm shallow enough to be happy with that =)

I have also changed and defaced my car...
I was only making a comment...
People can do what ever they want to do with their car, I'm not paying for it......

Am I missing something here???? Opel GT and Sky built on the same assembly line. Only difference is a few emblems. I'm quite happy with my Sky. If there are more defferences that can easily be changed, please clue me in.

They're all small details that you couldn't see if both cars sped by you at the same time (well, at least I couldn't). And yes, they're the same car, however the things that are put on the car where the US and the EU do not agree (IE taillight turn signal colors, windshield thickness, mirror sizes) as well as locational differences (IE Onstar sharkfins which I actually think look great therefor I left it on even though I don't use it, and antenna sizes) are different. The only major visual difference I've found is the rear tail/bumper body panel, everything else seems to just be light color, emblem, electronic, and EU/US spec differences.

As for "easily changed", some more than others are. The problem is, like me, you get tempted to do the "easy changes" because you like the way they look.... and then you think to yourself "well I did the easy changes.... let's go for a full visual conversion" and then wind up importing parts from Germany even though they were made in the USA Makes me feel stupid when I think about it, but then I just look at my car and say; for me.... it was still worth it.
