Took GM employee pricing deal...new Redline

Mixed emotions here...

Sad = traded in my beloved silver pearl, Hahn Stage II 2.4L that I have had for 1 year and 51 weeks with 23,800 glorious "smiles" on it. It was an early model (June 2006 build) without the door locks and seat adjuster among many things missing. It gave me headaches with rear diff. problems among a few other things but it was still my baby.

Happy = got what I truly wanted all along - chili pepper Redline. Also quite happy that most kinks from the '07 RL run should be gone. Very happy to have new technology a la tire pressure gauges, door lock buttons, power seat height, and many more.

To follow forum rules, here are the pics from delivery tonight. Note - I did NOT request the pinstripes (came with the car from another dealership) but I have become quite fond of them...it will make mine stand out for sure!! Tastefully done when looking at it person (IMOP).

I hope you got a good deal on your trade. Sometimes it's hard to get anything near what the car is worth with aftermarket parts, especially a Hahn Stage II on it. Congrats on your new RL though!

What problems are there with the 07? I have one but I'm new to the forum so probably haven't seen those threads

Congrats on the new ride!

What kind of deal did you get on the trade in with that kit on? Did it better or hurt your trade?

Did you have any issues with the HAHN stage II also?

Thanks and happy boosting!

My silver pearl trade came in at $16,150. Options were: leather, 6-disc Monsoon, LSD, chrome, and spoiler - basically loaded (5-speed manual). Original MSRP was $27,100 which was the FIRST base price of $23,450 if you recall (before all the GM bumps). Without the kit, the KBB "good" rating had me at ~$17,000.

The Hahn kit did hurt the trade. No additional value was given to it. Actually, they dropped $250 off the trade since they wanted to open up the engine prior to re-sale to ensure nothing was fried. I had to bring back the OEM exhaust, OEM airbox, and the manifold, injectors, etc... from the Hahn swap so they could restore the car to OEM (probably sell off the Hahn kit via eBay or something...).

As for the other questions, the GM employee price dropped my new RL by $3,200 so it was not too far from a wash on the Hahn kit cost ($4,700 nstalled) plus the fact I needed new tires in the next 6 monhts (another expense of $1,000-$1,200).

Regarding the '07 issues, well...it's can be a long list depending on who you talk to. Rear differential issues plagued most of the '07's propmting a recall / service bulletin while others were more sporadic (brake failure, clunks, misfires, running rich A/F ratios, etc...).

Full fresh warranty, new tires and brakes, and all the fun of wathcing the ODO go from only 100 miles up to ??????? whatever I want.

New miles and new smiles await.

Damn you could have had one of us return your car to stock if you wanted to give away the SC.

Hell, I would have flown up there taken in off returned your car to stock and shipped that stuff back to Houston and given you $1000 cash you could have put down on the new car.

Crazy!

Anyone else going to do something crazy like that let me know...!

Well, I do remember someone here got married right after buying a SKY. But again, that's probably too late too.

As for Roadie, check to see if it has an aux vacuum pump. If it doesn't, make sure the dealer has implemented the latest OHB Brake TSB. And even then, you need to test the brakes on a cold start to make sure all is well. You may have gotten rid of the 07 quirks, but remember the 08 has its own quirks...the brakes being the biggest one. Congrats.

Congratulations...I cannot separate myself from Vin#1414...but Chili Red was a second choice for me...although with the 2009 colors, the RUBY RED...at least u now have the better looking instrument cluster and stitching on the seats...I already switched out both...but enjoy your RIDE!

You didn't state what year R/L you bought, was it 08 OR 09? If 09 the brake aux pump should be installed, if 08 & if not, that is not good .. This was the reason we did not upgrade last year when we looked at 08s. Is this employee discount valid for all cars in GM? AND more important, is it valid for 09's?

Never-the-less congrats on your new wheels, and happy motoring..

The late production run 08 RLs have the vacuum pump. I would seriously check to see what you have. A low vacuum start can be very very nasty...and dangerous.

Congratulations! I too gave serious thought to trading up ... and have a few days remaining in GM's 'Employee' promotion to jump.
I took delivery late in 2006 (see signature below) and made modest mods for better mpg and sound. I have also lived through (and currently am enduring) various problems .. plus I have nearly 50,000 "smiles" .. and new tires being delivered this week ... so I really doubt I will. I still really love this car!

Decisions ... decisions
