Vendors take note: Wishlist for our Cars

I'd like to set up a wish list of items you'd buy if priced reasonably for our vehicles. I chose the redline because I feel people are more likely to modify them. Post some replies and I'll add them to the list

Exterior:
Mini tub or equivalent for wider tires
Hard top that looks proper (Maybe a hard replica of the soft top?)
Front Spltter

Interior:
Center Gauge cluster

Motor/Electronics:
Tunable ECU (most other upgrades will be allowed with a cracked ECU)

Handling:
Good racing coilovers (more options like pfadt or LG)
Name brand brake upgrades (Brembo, Powerslot, StopTech, or Eradispeed) including rotors, calipers, brake lines, and fluid

Other:
Window Valet (If your an electrical engineer PLEASE get a hold of me, I'd be willing to finance this if done right)

That’s quite a list; you must spend a lot of time on the track! -J

I miss the vette aftermarket.

I am meeting with a fabricator this afternoon to solve this issue. I should be able to run 285/40/18 to 295/35/18 tires that stick out 0-.5" more than stock.

People are running 295/30/18s. I would post a pic but he is a member here, and might not want his pic about... -J

I have seen photos of Dr. Jones car, and others that have V8 conversions, but the tires stick out 1-3" outside the fenderwell. I will be modifying the rear suspension and going all to the inside. Imagine stock wheels widened 2-2.5" to the inside with 295 meats tucked under, or custom wheels with 325 meats flush with the fenders. I can't wait!!!!

That will be excellent. Get us a price. Will be nice to have some serious traction. Will make those big brakes I want actually worth it

Don't know Dr. Jones.
I have seen, in person, 295/35/18s (A6s) not protruding from the wheel well. -J

I would be more than happy to buy a gage cluster like the 350Z has above the stereo. It would look gerat in a Sky.

I would really like it if someone would make an automatic convertible top, something that also closes the trunk would be nice. Lots of cars have them, why not ours?

I agree. If I had known the GMPP tune was going to disapear for the 08s and no one would have an aftermarket one at this point I might have gone back to the Vette. I bought this car with the plan to install the GMPP tune in a month or two.....................

Window Valet normally means you can "triple-click" or something on your remote and the windows will roll up or down accordingly. I'm an electrical engineer (by degree, IT by trade) but I have no idea how to grab the remote's signal. I do know how to do this pretty simply with an auxiliary remote.

Well, if the remote is "dumb" enough, triple clicking may just try to unlock it 3 times, so we could read the signal that way, and activate things accordingly. Do both sides have auto-down? I haven't seen much info on that yet, and I don't have my sky yet (tonight maybe!) so i'm not sure, but i'd love to help pull this stuff apart. I've got good experience with Atmel AVR microcontrollers, basic digital circuits, control systems, robotics, 2d and 3d CAD, CNC programming (3 and 4 axis mill, lathe), and access to two cnc mills and a lathe. If only i had some freaking free time i could make a whole new car! Sadly i have little free time at all, but i think i may be able to help.

I did notice JPM coachworks sells a short shifter for $235 that appears to be a simple lathe part that would cost about $30 even in small quantities, so i'll have to see if i can design something similar that i could sell for closer to $50.

Aside from that, i'm not sure, i'll have to see what the car needs when i get mine!

Only the driver side has auto-down I believe, never paid close attention to it though. Could easily enough catch a triple-click with a PIC chip and send an auto-down signal, but there's no auto-up so it would more likely need to be a timered up signal and a timered down signal to each window.

Everything necessary to receive the "triple-click" and to roll down the windows can be controlled from the ODB 2 port. The window valet made for the Corvette simply plugged into the ODB2 port and had a pass-through on the back side. When you triple clicked unlock it caught that information from the ODB 2 port and then sent the necessary information to roll down the windows.

If someone believes they can do this, PM me and we can go from there.

And yes, the remote is stupid. It only sends one code as many times as you click the button. The computer on the car is the one that interprets it as "unlock driver" on click one and then "unlock passenger" on click two.

For the rear wheels, people are already running 10"+ wheels on the back without having to even roll fenders.

You can use a universal carbonfiber front splitter.

DDM Works makes a radio pod that holds three gauges, just have to get an aftermarket stereo.

HKS [BIG time import tuner/manufacturer with top of the line parts, not junk] just released their HipermaxIII adjustable coil-overs, look on their website.

From what I understand you have to use custom swing arms because they get in the way of the wide rims.

I would rather use one made for the car I'm driving, Norm is working on one.

That is not an attractive option to me. I'm talking about where the black plate is at the top of the dash.

I will most definitely be checking those out

It looks to me like there is plenty of room to hack up the plastic bits around the shifter and make room for a cubby or two for a phone or ipod... I'm going to mess with that and see what i can come up with, but if anyone else comes up with something, be my guest.
Here's a pic with that piece taken off. The piece installed in the pic would have to be modified too, but it should be do-able.
