12 mm Spacers

Has anybody added wheel spacers to their SKY? Do you know if this will effect the alinglment of the vehicle?

I was intrested in purchasing some for the back tires and wondered if anybody had any feedback....good or bad.

Thanks!

The original offset of the stock rims is 55 mm. If you put 12 mm spacers under it's the same as an offset of 43 mm.
Some of the aftermarket rims have an offset of 45 mm so you should get a similar handling with the car as if you would drive with the 45 mm offset rims.
Some members with those rims should know.

I bought the 12mm spacers and tried them on the rear.

I found out they will not work unless you also get new, longer studs.
You might also need longer wheel bolts.

Without them, the wheel is only held on by 2-3 threads with the lug nut.

The factory studs would have to be removed from the rotor assembly...it was too much work than what I bargained for, so I said forget this, I'm not going to mess around any further with it.

Also, one thing to mention about wheel spacers is that if they are not hub-centric then the wheel will become lug-centric, meaning they will become centered around the wheel bolts rather than the hub. This could result in shimmer at high speeds.

In my opinion, forget the spacers and just get a set of wider aftermarket wheels. However, if you do find a way to eventually mount the spacers please let me how you did it and what other parts you used. As for now, my spacers are just sitting on my shelf taking up uhh...space what else?

Ya that was another concern that I had about lug nut studs. I had to replace mine on my Camry a few years back and it wasn't that hard. It's probably different on the SKY though.

But your comment about it possiably shimmering at high speeds leads me to think it is not worth it.

Thanks!
