Sweet! I didn't think us Cali people would be able to get close to 400 whp with our crappy gas.
I will keep saving my pennies for that turbo upgrade

I know, that's why I asked!

If I had the 2.4, you've layed out your formula quite nicely!
I just hope the RL will had some turbo upgrades in the future...

Are the manifolds interchangeable???

AH, sorry, I misread your post.
The manifolds are not interchangeable but we already have the manifolds ready for the redline. The only thing we are waiting for is a tuning solution for the ecu.

I was very close to ordering the ECU tune from Saturn Motorsports, but I may hold off if you're going to have your own tuning solution. Any ETA? I'd like to keep all the upgrades on my car direct from RPI.

There is no ETA on the redline tune as we are waiting for a tuner programmable solution and not something that is "canned". In the mean time, give Wes a call. I'm sure the tune is good for a few extra ponies.

If you want the same set up as what I have (built motor, etc.), it will run close to $20k. Its a good alternative to the V8 conversion IMO.

By the way, did I mention I get about 33mpg on the highway?

Around town is about 17mpg though. lol.

Eloy,

Did you sleeve your motor (e.g Darton, etc.).

I have to say, I was pretty impressed with the motor when pulling that thing apart. The machining was done at FMS and we all agreed that the stock block would be up to the task (for the power we are making). In all honesty for 300whp, I do not think you need to upgrade the rods either. I already had them before taking the motor apart. One thing that was important though was the valvetrain.

We started with the Hahn stage 4 kit but could not get the car to make more than 280whp even on race gas. We had to modify the turbo and manifold as well as a few other goodies to start making a good amount of power. I have to say at 280whp, the car is pretty darn fast though. As far as driveability, I think the Hahn stage 2 is perfect. I also tested the Werks stage 2 which felt like the Hahn stage 4. Its most likely from the larger turbo being used as well as piping and intercooler. At this time, I am trying to shoehorn a GT3071 or GT35 in there but we are having clearance issues since I do not want to run an external wg.

Eloy,
The turbo I got from Dave was the PTE-200-5032-RB precision w/c turbo.
Is that what you are using for stage 2? Thanks mads

Eloy,

Have you done any tranny mods? I am looking for a source of different gears, just 1st and 2nd. 1st gear is not usable under WOT, I end up getting too deep into the rev limiter too deep and ending up in PCM limp mode. 2nd gear goes too fast and by 60 MPH I am well into third. Also if I hit the bottom of 2nd gear will full boost I get tire smoke instead of propulsion.

Why did you change out the supertech springs?

I am running 325WHP on stock rods, 2000 miles of me beating the crap out of the thing with no problems.

I am having my HO motor sleeved and will also use beefier rods and forged pistons. It is relativity economical to have this done at the Darton factory. I have picture of a LE5 block that has a split #3 cylinder somewhere, If I can find it I'll upload it to this post.
