Brake light possibility

There are just one too many sky's being rear ended

After my sky was rear ended and several others have been rear ended, I am tired of not being seen.

We have mentioned the possibility of having flashing brakes lights or just the third brake light flashing so we are seen easier, I have purchased a flasher unit that I am going to install on my third brake light. It flashes 7-9 times then stays on continuous so you don't annoy the drivers behind you when at a stop light. It will reset after you let off the pedal. and start flashing again if you like.

anyone have a wiring diagram on our brake lights? I would like to wire this to the third brake light only and not all the lights.

yeah, I like it. great idea. maybe its because the rear end/trunk on the Sky is sooo much shorter than my Saab, but it seems like everyone is driving right up my exhaust pipes. Until we can get the rear-mounted, backward-facing high powered laser guns attached I am up for the flashing tail lights. Am I understanding the info on the website correctly - the module goes somewhere in the brake light circuit and provides the flashes?

This is from the Sol Service Manual. It should be correct, but I have not checked this particular detail, and there have been some differences.

The CHMSL is powered by the light blue wire in cavity 4 of Connector C400, which is located in front of the Right Tail Lamp. It is a flat oval connector, and if you are looking at the end with the sockets, with the locking tab at the bottom, cavity 4 is on the right.

Pin 1 = BK = Ground
Pin 2 = BN = Tail/Park/License
Pin 3 = L-GN = Backup
Pin 4 = L-BU = CHMSL

Access appears to be through the trunk.

I purchased 'Robert's illuminating windrestrictor. When I touch my brakes the windrestrictor lights up a bright red ... and can be seen clearly even with my top up through the rear window. It looks like a factory installed with the Saturn logo (small) and a large Red Line

I have watched and it sure gets the attention of the following driver as it turns off and on as I apply brake pressure. Plus it is high up at their hood/windshield level, so it is in their face so to speak.

Talk about a dual/triple purpose product .. a windrestrictor .. an illuminating message board ... and a brake light postioned high enough to be seen for even a huge tall pick-up truck or 18-wheeler who rides your bumper.

I like the idea of the windrestrictor but I was sckeptical about the interior lighting at night and the glare in my mirror when I hit my brakes. I will give a full detailed write up when I get it done

I got my pulsar third brake light last May from a gentleman in Ohio.
He actually installed it in his driveway - plugs right in, and he said it's the same plug config as the 06 vette.

If you PM me I can hopefully find his contact information,
fred

Apparently safety isn't as important as ruffled feathers. My message about obtaining a third brake light pulser was deleted. PM me for details. I have one. Cheap, too.

p.s. I am not aware of a supporting vendor selling these, but if I am wrong, I apologize.

Im curious Bob, pls PM details. Even tho I have a WR, the idea of having an option for this is good for those who DO NOT want a lighted WR--Like coopcj7, if he does not want the lighted WR, he should have "other' options. I might even install multiple thingies, considering how many Sky's have been rear-ended in the last month!!-

I installed the center brake light pulser in my Solstice and would imagine the hook up would be the same in a Sky but it is a simple plug and play set up. Unscrew two screws that hold the rear license plate light in place--push this light aside, then reach up into the opening and unplug the connector to the middle brake light. Then plug the light pulser into the disconnected connector and the other end into the middle brake light fixture. Fairly straight up as long and you have realatively small hands--if large, forget it, get someone else to do the job.

Feel it really shows you are slowing down or stopping. In this world of big pickups and SUV's we need all the advantages we can get. Just Google, Brake Light Pulser and you should be able to track down the seller/s.

I ordered a brake flasher Friday.

I was thinking that it shouldn't be all that difficult to wire in a bypass switch along with the flasher, so you can select the flasher or disable it so the 3rd brake light operates stock.

The one we sell is a UNIVERSAL one that can be used in ANY vehicle!!!

I paid like $65 INSTALLED. We sell it with or without a warranty that will pay you $2,500 if your vehicle is rear-ended and TOTALED. I bought it without the Warranty, I just paid for the module and the installation!!!

BA, it appears to me that the one you have blinks longer than the Brake Light Pulser for the Soltice. From both demos I like yours better.

Do all the Saturn dealers have these and install them?

Spy,

Do you have more details about the part? My dealership does not have anything like this. Also, what was the cost for the warranty?
