BSR Stage 2 Available?

Curious if anyone else has been out to the BSR site or updated their tuner lately? If I'm not mistaken, they have a Stage 2 tune out. The numbers look the same as the Stage 1, so I e-mailed Hahn to see if they had any information. I also just updated my tuner and it did take a while to finally update. When completed, the tuner stated that both the original file and Stage 1 file had been downloaded.

I have haven't loaded it up to the car, but I was curious if anyone else had noticed or upgraded their car yet.

The Stage 2 BSR has on their website is the same tune as the Stage 1. The difference is stage 2 comes with their exhaust system. Check the part that says "kit comprises of" just below where it talks about the launch control.

I don't believe BSR is coming out with a different tune. What you have is all your going to get. When they talk stage 2 and 3 it is additional pieces to the system, not different tunes.

I threw away the bsr tuner.........

its worthless especially if you already did lots of modifications.

you will just lose power. I started hating it....since it gave me lots of problem, especially when I started doing more mods.

But I'm stupid, I already know before I got it that it's only for a stock car.

Im glad, I got rid of it...and was able to trade it in......

Trade it in? When you purchased the HP Tuner? I just don't have the extra $900 to redo the tune purchase straight out, but if they can do some type of trade in that might help. Can you PM any specifics?

sorry bro.....its only a one-time deal. It will not happen again, so even if I tell you the specifics, it will do you no good. I'm sorry. I just got lucky.

i too have the bsr and am getting frustrated. i got a reply from Hahn a couple days ago stating no updated tune "yet". I will be taking the car off the road for winter shortly so i will wait and see if they get a real "stage 2" by spring. If not, as previously stated above, bye bye bsr helloo westers. i am perfectly happy with the bsr as it is a huge bump over stock and great if you just want to tune with no mods. The bsr leaves a margin of safety(imo) that really isn't needed on these cars as we all know they can take way more power reliably..THAT IS WHAT I WANT. THE MOST RELIABLE POWER... I am holding out hope over winter for an update as i have the 1k invested in the bsr....I hope hahn is reading these forums. If i have emailed them repeatedly, then others have too....it would be nice if we would get a timeframe(if any)....love their intercooler though.

I know your frustrations bro.

I emailed both BSR and Hahn....but both don't have any answer.

the problem with hahn, they promised that the stage 2 and 3 will be out last summer of 2008. That promise never happened. It's almost winter...and none of hahn techs and even hahn himself know when these stages will arrive..........because they are not the one doing the tuning.........BSR in another country is the one doing the tuning and research. Hahn is also a distributor...

BSR leaving a margin of safety? I don't think so.

I have the HP tuner.....which scans the "real time" stuff thats going on with your engine. BSR tune......if you go to a dyno shop and run your car.....the Air fuel ratio of your car is waaaaaay too lean.......at least 13.9. That is not giving your engine a "margin of safety". You are lean!

plus lots of knock retard.....during WOT.

With Westers tune........using HP tuner's scan.....I have zero knocks on WOT. I get small tolerable knocks on low rpm which is very normal even with a stock LNF engine.

If you have anyone near your area....who has an HP tuner......let them scan your ECM while you drive for 20 mins......then you will see what I'm talking about. That will REALLY persuade you to dump the BSR and get the westers tune.

If you have any questions......let me know....

With that said, is there anyone here in with a HP Tuner that lives in the Middle Tennessee area? I'd be curious to see the scan. Thanks

if nobody can help you in your area, I suggest you go buy yourself your own HP tuner.

It's worth it! Instead of buying stuff like dashhawk, with HP tuner, not only you can scan your car and save logs, you can also tune your car on your own.

Plus if you decide to buy a tune from wester or any other tuner, you don't have to send them your ECM anymore and wait for 3-5 days before you get it back. They can just send you the tunes within 30 mins

That's probably what I'll end up doing. Just need to work the OT to pay for the upgrades I want. Thanks.

yeah, its the only way, especially if you want to keep upgrading with engine mods.

It's tough to let go of the BSR, but you gotta do it and accept the losses. BSR is a dead end.

But I know you will be very happy with the purchase of HPtuners. I sent you a pm.

BSR has a demo car of the Opel GT with a stage 2 which includes a high-flow cat. But since BSR is still mainly focused on the Swedish market, it will take some time before it hits the market as demand is still too low (Not enough sold Opel GTs) and therefore not profitable enough. Guess we have to still wait for a while until BSR has settled down properly in the ROW markets.

If I had to pick a tuner today, I would go for EDS.

There has got to be a way to use the PPC tuner to tune or adjust the tune on our cars.

there was a post from hahn on the solstice forum about a pontiac 2.0 with big power. i replied on that thread asking if it was bsr tuned and if there was going to be a real stage 2....he replied that we should be hearing something on that in the next few weeks....the next day, my and his reply were removed and the thread appeared to have been closed....maybe he let the cat out of the bag and had it removed? donno, i am putting the car to sleep for the winter and i am hoping bsr has something real coming out by spring. If not, westers it is.

As I have stated before, BSR does not have a stage 2 tune. Their stage 2 is the tune (stage 1) and their exhaust (stage 2). According to their website, their exhaust does not even result in a performance gain (as far as hp goes), it is only a sound difference.

BSR does not have a stage 2 "tune" because they along with everyone else have not cracked the ECM to have a stage 2 tune.

Hahn has nothing to do with the tune, it is straight from BSR and they are simply an authorized reseller of their tune. I don't know why they continue to act like BSR is coming out with a new tune when BSR has NEVER mentioned anything about a new, better tune.

The BSR demo car is stage 2 because it has their exhuast not a different tune. The fact that is has a high flow cat is irrelevant unless they want to call it their stage 3.

Can we put the BSR stage 2 tune to rest now?? It's not going to happen. We don't even know if GM is going to come out with their stage 2 tune at this point and if anyone can or has cracked the ECM it is them.

I totally agree.....

Hahn is not a part of the tuning process. They are just an authorized dealer.......

Just so it is written down somewhere and not based upon website information, there is definitely no difference in the seat dyno with the posted BSR Stage 2. I did install their Stage 2 tune just to satisfy my curiosity, and I can attest that the the only difference I have seen is the Boost level on the DIC now displays up to 25 PSI. Other than that there is nothing special about their Stage 2.

I am converted, and hopefully by Christmas I will be the owner of an HPTuner.

So as far as I'm concerned the BSR Stage 2 is a bust and this thread can be closed.

Hello this is my first post
Am from Greece and just to tell you that isn't hahn fault the bsr isn't supporting Modifications Correctly!
they are just a reseller and they are calling sweedish BSR to make an update!
I called here at greece the official BSR reseller and asked them for any difference of stage 1 + stage 2 .....
he told that the 2nd ... just include an exhaust... nothing more and no other power gains!
so i didn't bought bsr because they where very expensive 950euro just for a tune!
thanks
