I am still trying to understand what it does....inquiring mind with small IQ. Is it something that makes the car's computer redundant

It is an expanded version of the DIC. Plugs into the OBDII port, and gives you real time access to quite a list of the parameters that the computer reads.

Can the display be rotated to a vertical aspect ratio ? If so, it may fit nicely between the instrument pod and the radio/HVAC area. That is where I have my GPS.

If you aren't considering modifying your car this really is just a neat looking little gizmo.

If you're going to modify your car, this thing is a must have.

This basically tells you things that the computer is seeing. For instances, in the photo you see the lower right box says TPS and is at 34%. That's Throttle Positions Sensor. That means the throttle is at 34% of it's travel. Couple this with a wide band 02, KR and RPMs and you can get an idea of what you're car is doing if you have say...an aftermarket trubo on it. If you have a tuner then you can adjust your Air/Fuel mixtures to get a proper reading at all throttle positions in each fuel trim cell in the ECM.

Basically this is a scantool...and if you're moding, you need to be scaning.

I hope you are not suggesting there is something wrong with neat looking gizmo's ?????

Seriously, it would give you real time coolant temp, and maybe (I haven't read the spec) oil pressure.....two gauges I really wish we had.

Speaking of neat gizmo's, I would like to have something like this that drove a couple of analog gauges, to fill in the gaps that GM left us in the gauge department.

No, neat little gizmos are fine...just understand you're talking to a predominately function over form kind of guy. I like subtle and useful. LOL

For me, I like the cleanlieness of the dash. I could see where a water temp gauge could be handy (and yea, they should have installed one) but I'm pretty sure the DIC has a warning if it gets too hot but before too much damage is done...which equates to if you ever get an overheating light pull over ASAP. LOL

Had a radiator fail on my GP and I tell you what, not fun. However, thank you GM for Limp Home Mode...LHM cuts off 3 of the 6 cyl. in the GP to cool off them off then switches to the other three for a while. I think you can go 50 miles like that...at least enough to get to a place to fix it or get off the freeway to get it towed. I'll have to ask if the Sky has this...

I actually found that it fits pretty well inside the dash bezel where the speedometer is. The dashhawk shows the speed built in so why bother having two . BTW, what does everyone's TPS read on the dashhawk, I can only get mine to read to 77%.
