DIY V8 Build Old School Style

Posted over on the Solstice forum as well thought that I better post here since it is a sky.

Well after months of planning and aquiring parts i started the project
My V8 conversion using a mixture of old school power and new technology.

Plan : pull the LE5 and drop a carbureted 350 V8 with 700r4 manual shifting capability automatic.

I wanted to control the engine and bolt ons with new circuits and let the existing computer control the inside of the car as well as lighting systems and safety features

The car is almost complete just working on small issues while I drive it to work.

The original time limit was 9 days to do the conversion but after some delays it has taken longer than anticipated but defintely worth the wait when it fired up

That's going to be one sweet conversion. I would loved to had a carbureted V8 in mine. I like the throttle response better then the computer controlled that I have. Good choice on your exhaust, I had mine redone this year from the Corsa to true dual Magnaflow and love it.

I love the exhaust but I have only heard it from inside the car or standing beside it. I cant wait till I can get some drive by's to hear the rumble on acceleration. It took me a while to decide on the exhaust but I knew I wanted true duals and an x pipe.
You still could go with a carb conversion for the LS but hood clearance would be a bigger issue with the tall LS intakes

same mufflers as mine you have the shorter and I have the longer not much cabin noise for me
I will add an exhaust sound clip here in a bit I will let the car warm up first

Had to add in custom mounts since the SBC engine mounts sit 3 inches forward our factory engine mounts

Mock block mounted to check for clearances had same issue as LS engines the oil pan sits right above the inlet for our rack and pinion
