Finally made it to the track...

The air was hot and muggy, but no rain. 90 degrees, 94% humidity, sweating bullets doing nothing... From talking to other folks, everyone was about 4 tenths off last night. The track was very sticky. I was able to brake boost up to almost 2600 rpm and only a hint of wheel spin.

Hightlights from the night:
Best 60' - 1.89 Woot!
Best 1/8 - 8.47 @ 82.42
Best 1/4 - 13.34 @ 101.4
Saw in person the first Challenger in the area (spanked him both times we ran each other!) His best was 13.6 @ 103, about 3-4 tenths slower than the magazine times.

I reset my computer to see what effect it would have. The turbo redlined and cut out at the 1000' mark. It started out as my best pass until it give up the ghost. I got 13.40 @ 94 MPH. A key cycle later, and all was fine.

All in all it was a fun night, but I think I will wait until it cools off a little before I head back out.

I'd be shocked if you go under 13.00, but it looks like 13.0x might be doable. Good numbers, making our automatics look good indeed I assume the Challenger was fully stock, auto or stick?

IIRC all the first Challenger's are auto.

Looked it up, I think you're right, stick will be an option down the road apparently.

The Challenger still had the paper tag on the back, fully stock.

One other thing I meant to add, I tested it against my intercepter 3 different runs. It showed from .03 faster to .08 slower than my time slips. To give you an idea of the air, a stock Redline was there (5 speed and a K&N) and the best he could manage was 14.5 @ 97.

I have no doubt that it will run 12.9 with some cool dry air.

Depressingly all Dodge SRT-8 vehicles are auto. First they overweight the car which makes it a gas guzzling pig, then they make you take an auto: what a waste of an absolutely stunning design. Maybe the new Camaro will give me some hope for the resurgence of muscle.

Back on topic: Killer times for that kind of air. How did the challenger look in person?

Very nice work, Kendall!

I also just had some fun track time with our brand new Cobalt SS/TC. Of course, that's the same LNF Turbo engine, just in a FWD version.

Keep up the great work, thanks for using our products

LOVE the 60 ft!

yeah im the guy with the stock redline, 5sp and kandn filter. heres what i ran:
60': 2.274
1/8: 9.497 at 77.47
1/4: 14.557 at 98.48
i need a better launch, anything under 4500 just bogged when it gripped and 4500+ just spun but the 4500 launch gave me the 14.5 run. launching is the only weak point, after that the car just hauls. oh yeah, you CAN NOT power shift into 3rd in my car. i was power shifting to keep the rpms and boost up and everything shifted good but when i hit 3rd, with the clutch all the way down it wont go in gear. i could get it the first time i tried but every run after that it wont go in but if i let off the gas it goes in, weird.

His motor hasn't opened up yet, wait until it is broken in. Very rarely do you get as good as the mags. -J

IMHO maybe with a manual but you should be right on top of mag speeds since they are all autos. Doesn't take much to powerbrale one of those heavy monsters to the right rpm and off they go. Relatively wide rear tires + a lot of weight should make the launches pretty simple. I am thinking that was all air quality, the turbo on your car makes up for some of the heat/mugginess, he is N/A and gasping for air.

Challenger: ~4200 lbs.
SKY: ~3000 lbs.

40% heavier than a SKY

**************************

Stock Challenger: 425BHP
Stock SKY RL: 260BHP

Lb/HP (lower is better):
Challenger: 9.9
SKY: 11.5

If you can get the SKY to 303BHP, you'll match 'em on stats.

The Challenger uses a 120HP just to lug around the weight difference.

According to one atmospheric conversion website, I'm down about 7% in power compared to the previous conditions when I ran with my Interceptor. I would guess I'm around 320 at the engine, so a difference of about 22.5 just from atmospheric conditions.
