Fujita CAI Issues

I just installed the Fujita CAI and ICP yesterday afternoon. I had a great day of driving with the top and radio up. I even got my first "That's a Saturn" from a couple of people walking in front of the car while we waited to go green.

Today I the car throw a code though. OnStar says its an issue with the air intake. It looks like all the connections etc. are still on tight. Has anyone had the same issue after installing the Fujita CAI. Any advice to point me in the right direction would be appreciated.

I do not know the exact code. The representative from OnStar merely stated that the air intake was the issue. Since then I examined all of the hoses and T-Clamps. A couple of them needed to be retightened; however, after that the car was still showing the check engine light. I think I will need to take it to the dealer to get a better indication of what the exact code is.

You cant expect the dealer to fix an issue that the intake caused can you?

There was an earlier thread where someone got a Fujita that had the MAF sensor bung welded on backwards causing all sorts of problems. Ray

I saw that post earlier today before I started my thread. I will be checking on that issue tomorrow. The vehicle has not seen any rain so I have eliminated that possibility. I have also disconnected the battery about 15 minutes ago and will be connecting it back up and see if that rectifies the issue.

Make sure you have the air flow pointing in the correct direction. Also I know of a few Fujita CAI's that had the airflow meter bung backwards so the meter would never fit correctly and by that I mean the little plastic piece that is electric that you fit into the CAI.

Actually, the check engine light went off after reconnecting the battery. I went to the dealer today after coming back from a sales trip to Dallas and discussed the issue with them. They stated that a "hard reboot" of the system shouldn't have cleared it up. The code that was thrown was for the mass airflow sensor, code P101. It hasn't acted up again since, now it's just a waiting game to see if it happens again. I also checked the mass airflow sensor again and it is installed correctly.

"The Fujita is a nice piece, but it's a bit notorious for its smaller than stock tube size, which throws the MAF sensor calibration out in left field...essentially, the car thinks its experiencing much more airflow than it really is, leading to over-rich fuel mixtures and possible issues with the airflow readings exceeding acceptable thresholds."

I assume you have not had the same issue with your DeJon CAI?

I noticed the exact same thing last year when i got my fujita, i made a thread about it on the solsticeforum and the guys from fujita basically said it made extra hp and thats all that matters. I sold the intake the very next day.

Some have said that if you have too much oil in your filter it can cause sensor problems. May try cleaning the filter and make sure you use very little oil, that is if you use an oiled filter!

Search previous threads

I remember reading a previous thread where someone had the same issue and someone suggested to replace the filters with dry filters. It cured the problem. Try the search.

Installed my dual intake Fujita two months ago on my 2.4 and no codes. Also these filters are dry and require no oil for the 2.4l.

Looks like the issues are all done and taken care of now. I adjusted the filter and gave it a little more room between the end of the pipe and the internal fittings of the filter and now the issue seemed to have resolved itself.
