Horsepower Site - All Cars

An interesting site that has HP for all current cars, and the curb weight of the cars.
http://www.aspecpro.com/
A key point of the site is that car weight needs to be considered when evaluating a car's speed. They point out that a 190hp Lotus elise is faster than a 380hp Lexus LS (double the HP).

They also correlate 1/4 times to these calculations.. (which I havent compared to published reports), and also discuss gear ratios

anyway... some interesting numbers in cars that could be considered in our class/price range

right in line with 350z, Mustang GT (need just a few more hp from the sky!)... beating the Eclipse GT, and Charger RT..
Plus i was suprised to see the Vette is only 100lbs more in weight than a sky?!?

Interesting site... what they are missing is a single list of all the cars, so ya could easily see where your car falls into the mix!

Car - HP - Weight - Ratio
Sky Redline - 260 - 3071 - 11.81
Nissan 350x - 306 - 3601 - 11.77
Ford Mustang GT - 300 - 3450 - 11.50
Mazda MX5 - 166 - 2602 - 15.67
Mazda RX8 - 232 - 3045 - 13.13
Honda S2000 - 237 - 2855 - 12.05
Toyota Camry 3.5le - 268 - 3461 - 12.91
Porsche Boxter S - 295 - 2965 - 10.05
Mits Eclipse GT - 263 - 3545 - 13.48
Dodge Charger RT - 335 - 4031 - 12.03
Chry PT Cruiser GT Conv - 230 - 3471 - 15.09
Chevy Corv cpe - 400 - 3179 - 7.95
Chevy Monte Carlo ss - 303 - 3490 - 11.51
Audi A8 - 350 - 4288 - 12.25
Acura RL - 290 - 4014 - 13.84

also Check out the BMWs... Sky hangs very well with them

I thought the 'Red Line'/'GXP beat the 'Boxer' in times?

Porsche Boxter S - 295 - 2965 - 10.05 but this number shows it kicking our butt?

I don't think that is a time.. that is the HP to weight Ratio.

theres no way a corvette coupe gets a 7.95 qtr mile!!!

yes.. it is just a ratio... a simple hp to weight division i beleive.

I think GetAboutRL was just correlating that if the Boxster has a lower ratio, one would expect it to have a faster 1/4 mile... but he thought he read previously the RL had a faster 1/4 mile time.

My RL was 2940 on the race scale. That number is off.

It is a ratio, my Z is only good for 10.5 in the 1/4 at the ratio I previously posted.. Roughly 1 HP per 5.5 lbs in my case

Now you see why when I want the power/speed surge, I will drive my '06 C6 Vette instead of buying a turbo for the Sky. Horsepower to weight ratio is what makes things fast. They don't have motorcycles listed, imagine the ratio for sport bikes. That is why you never race a sport bike....
