IC Pipes - Functional or Cosmetic?

I am pursuing functional changes first and then adding cosmetics later.
So where do the IC pipes fit?

So far I have the GMMP HIA and the GMMP 3 inch Cat Back exhaust.

IC pipes will be next if functional otherwise it will be an IC.

Working to get the most effenicencey and economy out of the stock turbo.

Any extra HP is just a real happy bonus.

Yes the IC pipes are functionally more efficient that the stock ones. It will help the flow although you won't see any hp gains from it. They do have some cosmetic value as well. I would definetly do the IC. That will be your best mod to date of the ones you listed.

what exactly do they do? i know it lets more air flow freely but how does that benefit us?

Most are saying the stock IC pipes are just fine!

If you want new pipes, do it for the looks not any gain.

A new IC on the other hand is by far a better upgrade!

Some testing was done on the stock IC pipes and they found they flow
just as well as pipes with out the crushes in the bends. Most everyone will agree that the IC pipes are done for looks only!

They are mainly for show. In fact if you do a search above, you will read where the metal piping retains the motor heat and actually reduces the performance slightly. So the plastic stock looks boring but since it does not retain the heat, it dyno's with better results.

I just replaced my stock air filter with a K & N Sky RedLine air filter. It is specially designed for our car to increase performance.

But at shows, I must admit that the different IC pipes look impressive. So if you are the kind of owner who flips the hood up to impress ... get the IC pipes.
