Installed Magnaflow Dual Quads

I had my friend install my new magnaflow dual quads yesterday. He has a lift at his house so installing the exhaust was a snap. He is a bit of a perfectionist so he spend alot of time on cutting out the hole to make it look good. It came out great. I know pictures pictures, when my son comes over I will post some pictures. I will tell you it sure makes the car sound alot different. I really like the sound. When you get to 5 or 6 thousand rpms it gets quite loud in the cabin but I can get used to that. The look of the dual quads is awesome. I can also tell the car has more pick up. Thanks to John at HottExhaust for a great price on a great product also thanks to snaponbob and JohnD for advice along the way. I highly recommend this upgrade for your car.

I don't know about more pick up and go...I believe it is more psychological than real...but the appearance is certainly worth it...Gino and myself r senior members of magnaflow...but u have the sedated muffler...the ones that gino and I installed r the camero/firebird muffler...makes a deeper more high end foreign sound...your muffler... I don't know why magnaflow did it...is almost duplicate to the sound of the R/L.

I can testify to that! I drove along-side a new Masarati a few weeks ago and the pitch and tone of the Camaro/Firebird MagnaFlow was identical to the Masarati.

Mine was magnaflow part #16664 I wasn't aware I had different choice as far as a muffler was concerned. I personally never heard a redline but I doubt it sounds like this system, when I get the chance I will compare the 2 sounds. Bottom line is I like it very much.

You being serious or sarcastic mike, that cat backs don't add more pick up and go?

Pitcom...I never felt the difference in pick up...if it gave me 3 HP more...no one could tell me you can feel the difference...now going back to ShowMeSKY...u did not have a choice with the magnaflow system u chose(16664)...yours is the new catback system from magnaflow....ours is a piece mealed system...we changed out muffler and exhaust tips only...(muffler 16667)

GGCCG....it probably did sound similiar...I have heard all the sounds of the new mufflers...including the R/Ls....ours is definitely the stronger more distinct and foreign sounding of high end foreign cars....I am speaking objectively guys/gals

well, to put all to rest, I'll take some sound clips of my Redline, and post them. And when I eventually get the 3'' Magnaflow system, I'll repost the new sounds as well as video.

From other threads if you have the CAI system on your car already the CAT back exhuast I have been told helps very much. You have to remember if air is increased coming in it need to do the same going out. According to dyno tests with different options installed just the CAI with the dual CAT sustem should add about 15-20 HP. Just the CAI helped tons on my base Sky. As soon as I get my Borla system installed I will let you all know what it does.

Maybe at the crank it will be a 15-20 hp gain, but not at the wheels. You get about 7 from the exhaust and maybe another 5 from the intake.

Also, Mike it would not surprise me if you didn't feel a power difference. 3-7 hp is not a HUGE hp increase. What I noticed out of my setup is a lot more responsive throttle through the full rpm range. There feels to be less hesitation and more top end power with the new system now that the PCM has learned it.

And I love the sound. The Grand Prix guys said it reminded them of a Ferrarri or other European style sports car. I'd have to agree.

Robo...maybe I don't feel it because I have automatic...but I don't race this car...I bought the car because it was simply BEAUTIFUL...the dual exhausts just gives it that extra make-up a woman may want to put on.

I have the Kappa CAI along with the magnaflow cat back, and I'm telling you guys it makes a difference in performance along with a great look and much different sound from the stock setup as RoboTech said I can feel a quicker throttle response all the way through the RPM range.

I hear ya Mike. The look of this exhaust is just killer! I don't even like to look at the stock exhausts anymore...they just don't look right. I truely feel the Magnaflow system fits the car so much better.

When I took the car in I had no idea the kind of tips they were going to put on it but I had a picture in my mind of what I wanted. I didn't say anything though, it was their project and was was getting an exhaust out of the deal. Don't look a gift horse and all that jazz.

But when they were finished and I came to pick it up what was sitting on the car was exactly what I had pictured in my head. I told them as much. It looks great.

If you really don't get on it much Mike that would be why you won't feel anything. It is a very subtle change and the auto trans will serve to numb that feeling a bit as well.

Robo...some things were meant to be and suited for the rear end of this car...the magnaflow quad exhaust tips..or any quad tips will bring the SKYS rear end to life...as they say...it just feels right. Just as a little point of information...if u wanted to make the exhaust tips stick out a little longer..magnaflow states that it gives up to an inch and a half...it looks good no matter what...now ..off to Florida...

Regarding the extra zip in HP...although the roadster may be sluggish for some when u first accellerate...but when the car hits about 18 MPH, the tires and handling seems to kick in like no other...and the accelleration also improves significantly...just my observations.

I just love this car.

I don't know if this is the spot to ask but sence everyone is talking about exhaust I thought I would ask any way. Does any one remember the link to the removal of the rear fasia? I remember reading about this, but I can't find any thing about it. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Mike (Ghost-Sky)
