Installed my MagnaFlow this afternoon

First, if anybody is afraid of the noise level - you don't have to be. The audio clips were dead on. As we have blowing snow in KC, I didn't take the car out. I simply started it in a closed garage and revved it a bit.

Second, I hope it is actually as loud as I want for autocross!!! Between the turbo, the tiny cat, and the muffler, it is still fairly quiet.

Third, I have a different race exhaust coming to try out as well. Three inch system, no muffler or resonator, single all the way out the left side of the valance.

Can't wait until all this white stuff and ice go away so I can go hammer it a little. Nice system, good fit, wonderful packaging. It's ALL good. Thanks to MagnaFlow and HottExhaust.

Great to see you got it on Bob! ...Hopefuly you'll have a chance to rip around the block soon..As for the sound, it will open up some over the first 1000 miles or so, the packing material in the muffler needs several expansion and contraction cycles to achieve the final sound...

I installed my Magnaflow 3" Cat Back System From HottExhaust today. All I can say is OH MY GOSH !!!! . Even at 6000 elevation, the performance boost was outstanding ! Installation took less than 1 hour on a lift and was such a breeze (see my comments that I added to gwaders Installation tips How to install redline dual exhaust or any other bolt on. ) Installation is much simpler than it appears at this post. The sound is a much more pleasant deeper rumble than the higher pitched sound it used to have. It really sounds like a true roadster now. It is still reasonably subdued, so I can see room fro a new high flow cat without the sound being to loud. Even my wife thought the new exhaust sounded great. She did object to the increased performance by stating that "it was too fast already".

Anyhow Major Kudos to John @ HottExhaust. This made my Permagrin even bigger . Now if only the white stuff will go away for a while I can start racking up a few tickets.

John,

Does the 3 inch system include the cat back pipe and muffler with two dual outlets for the 2.0 turbo? How long does it take for delivery? Has anyone priced installation? I am considering doing it myself.....
Any chance of a high flow cat for the 2.0?

I used a lift. It require one larger flat head screwdriver to pry the muffler hangers off the rubber. I also needed one 15 mm deep socket wrench. A 19mm open end for the o2 sensor (could be a different size).

Total time for removal - 30 minutes.

Total Install time, 20 minutes.

2 people.

1. the system is complete Cat Back, everything is replaced.
2. Installation at a local meineke for me was around $100.
3. Delivery took 4 days.

Thanks Antonio !...
NEMESIS---To add to the response, a 2.0T high flow cat is in the works...DIY is easy enough, just a bit awkward without a lift...
Just call for pricing and be sure to mention you're a skyroadster member for appropriate pricing...

REDSKY...Pleasure was all ours...cant wait till we get more on road driving feedback, seems like just about everyone is waiting for the snow to melt !

I did my install alone. (I'm SOOOOOO lonely!!) With 2 ton jack stands it was a little confined under the car, but was okay. You'll need 1 deep 15mm socket, ratchet, a 3-5 inch extension, flat head screwdriver, spray lube, and a 22mm wrench for the O2 sensor, oh - and a good jack. IF a stud comes out of the cat, you'll need a 6 or 7mm socket (can't remember) to reinstall the stud. I took the valance off, but that may not be needed. It just gave me a little extra room. I put the factory exhaust (all in one piece) into storage. Ya never know!!! About 90 minutes and it was done. Just get everything lined up right before you tighten the clamps. Don't forget to get those clamps tight per the instructions.

Yes! make sure you tighten those clamps! When my shop took my car off the lift and parked it for me to take, I was about to leave, and I heard a vibration. I drove to the end of the parking lot, and the vibration got louder with RPM's. Parked it and walked back inside and said it was vibrating. Put it back on the lift, and found which clamp wasn't tight enough. 5 minutes later vibration was all gone.

Thanks for the DIY tips on the exhaust installation. Sounds like a 2-beer job for me.

Is there anyone out there that has the 3" MagnaFlow exhaust system AND the Kappaspere lowering springs installed?

So I know there are specific jacking points- but the stands go where?

Eloy at RPI has lowering springs plus a different high-flow exhaust that uses two side-by-side 2.5" pipes and straight through mufflers for a lower profile.

This pretty much explains everything that you would want to know about jacking and stand placement...

hmmmm...close, but not quite the comparison I need. I'll have one whopping 3" pipe. (Which is OK by me, that's why I bought it. )

Anyone have the magnaflow 3" exhaust with a Kappasphere lowering kit? Anyone? Answering here is free?

I put them under the lower control arm pick up points. Worked fine.

I Have Both The 3" Magnaflow And The Lowering Kit By Eibach On My Redline. I Have About 5" Ground Clearance. I Can Live With It Since It Is Not My Every Day Car. It Does Require Being Extra Careful When Going Over Thing Other Than A Fairly Flat Surface. You Might Want To Consider The Rpi Setup!

I already ordered the Magnaflow exhaust with no regrets. Perhaps the Kappashere lowering springs do not lower the car as much as the Einbach springs.

If it is close tolerance, I would leave the springs as-is. I'm sure it will be fine enough. The roads in Louisiana are very crappy, and I don't wanna bust up my exhaust everytime I go over a speed bump or hit a pot-hole.
