That's the beauty of the BSR tune is you plug it in and follow the menu instructions and about one minute later the car is tuned. Then whenever you want to put it back to stock you follow the same procedures. You can switch back and forth from stock tune to the BSR tune whenever you want as many times as you want.

Many other tunes you either send them your ECM and they put the tune on and they ship it back but you can't go back and forth with it like with BSR's PPC module. You can purchase an additional ECM and then replace it back and forth with the stock one to aftermarket because you have two ECMs.

Then there is HP tuners which if you have the software you can either tune it yourself or buy someone else's tune via HP tuners and you can save the stock tune and load it back on whenever you want that way.

multi-user?

Is there some sort of licensing agreement when you buy that which would prevent you from using it on more than one car? or even if there was could there be anyway from them to track or enforce it?

I am thinking that if someone where to buy one they could use it on multiple cars. Say for example you get one and take it with you to some sort of cruise such as the tail of the dragon run - and charge other folks $10 or $20 a pop to change the tune in their vehicle - maybe try a couple of different settings and find one they like best and set it back to factory before they go home if that is what they want.

the upside for the person who spend the $1000 on the unit is that some of the cost is offset. the upside for those who spend the $20 each is they saved a ton of cash. the downside of course is that if you go home with a "tune" that you later want to reverse what do you do? buy one yourself? reconnect with the guy who bought one? wait for the next group event?

and is that only for the RedLine? my dad has a base model - I am planning to get a RedLine - so that would be at least two cars. and I suppose if I tried I could find a handful of others in the area willing to give it a try for a few $ - and that way, if the entire group of people "borrowing" the device all live in a 30 to 60 mile radius then not so bad if you want to try it out for a month or two - then go back to stock or try some other tune.

It only works on the first car it is plugged into. More details are available by clicking on the link in the first post.

The Hahn website states that the BSR tune “marries” itself to the car that it is first installed in. I am assuming that they have set the system up that way to prevent anyone from buying one unit and using it on multiple cars.

The best way right now is to join NASSOA and use their discount on the dejon website and order the Wester's tune from them.

They also sell the HP Tuners software, or you can send in your ECM and have them flash it for you! The Wester's Hot (Race) tune is the best one out right now!

Another option is wait a few months and see what the GM tune is going to cost then decide what you want!

I have the BSR and I am quite pleased with it. I don't like the idea of either tuning it myself with a laptop, as I have no skills there. In addition, to have to send out the ecm, or get a spare one to go back to stock for dealer service isn't for me either. I like the BSR and the performance gains are still one of the top performers. The price is way too much(worth it to me), but at the time, it was the only one out and I saved for a season to get it. If I didn't have a tune, or just got my redline now, I would love the increasing options of tunes available. I already spent the 1k, so I am invested in something I really enjoy anyway, but seeing tunes for under 600 bucks does smart a little. Over time, when/if any tunes start to show a pattern of breaking stuff, then the verdict will be in.

like dirtymike said

the ppc and the car don't get married

when you purchase it, you tell them your vin #. then they program it into the unit before shipping it to you. when you plug it in your car it looks to see if it matches the one you gave when buying it. if it doesn't, then a readout on the unit says that the numbers do not match and prevents you from doing anything else. prevents people from jacking your ppc and installing it on their car first haha. imagine an unlocked ppc unit.....that would be GOLD!

Glad to see that you made it over here with those of the other brand.
