Newby question.....mods...what is out there?

Ok so this is my first post here....my wife is a proud owner of a 08 redline. Now my job is to make it faster.....she had a 05 WRX stage 4 that was pretty sweet....sad to see it go but this Sky is one of the hottest looking cars out there and stock is quite impressive.

So I know there is not a lot of these running around so I am sure the mods are hard to come by right now. I have a 05 Dodge Magnum and it took almost 2 years for good tuning stuff for it. Anyway just curious if there is some tuning available, intakes and what exhaust is available? She doesn't want it loud just a nice sounding purr. Thanks for the help and I look forward to learning about these cars.

Well, here is a list of 30 mods that I have done to my car...

I find the performance more than adequate for my purposes, so I have concentrated on handling and appearance.

Welcome boisesky!

Since you mentioned "go faster" you must be looking for HP gains.

Look at the front page of this forum or use the search feature to find whats out there. The front page lists supporting vendors, and several have mods such as exhaust, ECM flash, IC upgrades to name a few.

Not sure if you have a club up in Boise, but here in Utah we have Saltlakeroadsters.com your welcome to join us on a few rides and we can help with your questions.

If the Redline upgrade stages are anything like the stage kits they had for the Dodge SRT-4, then something along these lines s/b on your wish list: bigger turbo, bigger intercooler, bigger injectors, new/re-programmed ECM, free-flow exhaust, intake, etc.

Or, you could one-up her old WRX Stage 4 and just put a Mallet V8 kit in there...

Sounds good, ya just a little more not going as far as I did with the WRX. She will just want a little more out of it I am sure. I was thinking intake, tune and exhaust. Just want to find out what tune is the best. Thanks for the welcome I look forward to leaning about these rides.

Tint is one thing I have not done yet, and may not do... still deciding on that.

I have:
  • Saturn Motorsports Headers
  • SMS Throttle Body
  • SMS Carbon Fiber Engine Cover
  • SMS Functional Hood Vents
  • SMS/Fujita Dual Cone Intake
  • Saturn RedLine Headlamps
  • Custom Paint
  • KappaSphere/ACE Radium Rims
  • KappaSphere SKYShield
  • KappaSphere BeltXTenders
  • Pioneer AVIC-Z1
  • JL Audio Amp
  • Pioneer Flat sub
  • JL Audio XR surrounds
  • Vertical Doors Inc hinges

I do have Eibach Pro-Kit springs that I was going to put on... but have decided not to. If anyone would like to buy them, let me know.

No exhaust yet for me, but they are all very good... MagnaFlow, RPI, KappaSphere, SaturnMotorsports. All good.

The intake is more for looks and sound not so much HP gains.

The exhaust and tune will give you a good increase, the other thing you may want if you do the tune is an IC upgrade.

Sweet....hey is there a way to make your turbo sound louder? And a way to hear the SWoooosh when you let off the gas? I know that in the WRX there was a big silencer and when removed and a new intake put on it sounded awesome.

Hey todaresqSL2 Good to hear about the SMS products. I found that site and was wondering if you can get that stuff at the dealer?

The wife said today that "it is a roadster and it should have a little rumble to it".....I will be calling my exhaust guy soon...LOL! And with that what size is the best? I know bigger is better with a turbo but how big for this ride? Thanks for the help!

3" Exhaust is perfect for the Redline.

In regard to getting SMS items, there are retailers that do sell their items, but seeing as they are not a GM company, they are not at all of them. I think the closest store with their merchandise is Riverdale, UT. You can call Wes at SMS to find out if there is a closer one.

If you want to hear all the turbo sounds then removing the factory airbox and replacing it with the Fujita intake from KappaSphere will definitely accomplish that for you...
