There is a video from the back of the car on YouTube. Search for "Saturn Sky Magnaflow". I can't get to YouTube at work to find it and post the link. Also, if you got to the official magnaflow site they have a video of the RL 2" version at idle, launch, and a drive by. It sounds similar IMO to the 3". Edit: I originally had it was for the 2.4 engine, I was wrong it's the 2" instead of the 3".

Top up, Top down or both?

I'll see if I can get something together as well.
I'll have mine back tomorrow with the 3" Magnaflow on it.

I didn't get my Sky back today and I won't have time to do a recording until next week as a result.
I get it back tomorrow.
My PAL install was a bit of a handful for the dealership.

I got mine back today.
Compared to what I heard on YouTube, it's amazingly quiet when you are in the car and the top is up.
Definitely wont be an issue from a too loud point of view on long trips.
With the radio on, I only heard it when I stomped the gas to the floor.

I'll work on getting some audio for it.

Can you link me to some of the videos you saw where it was quiet?

I've been looking into exhaust, but decided I didn't want to bother with it because they sounded ungodly loud. The bass resonance inside the cabin sounded overwhelming in ALL the videos I saw. Are you using weak computer speakers by chance?

Definitely interested in this exhaust or others, but not if they are overwhelmingly loud. Has anyone taken a dB meter to it from a 15ft distance? That's something I can directly compare to.

Yo, I come to Portland quite a bit, would love to give you a test drive in the duckmobile and you can hear for yourself how loud it is. I think it is perfect.

I might just take you up on that offer, I appreciate that!

The Sky is the wifes car, but I've taken over the tuning aspect. I just need to find something that she will feel comfortable cruising in, and I don't want it to sound like a ricer (not saying that it does, havne't heard it yet!!). Last thing is how it will sound with an automatic. I couldn't talk her into the stick, and I've never liked how auto cars sound with loud/aggressive exhaust.

But!! We shall see.

I tried to do some recordings the other day with the top down.
In all cases, unless I was reving the engine to the redline, the windnoise exceeeded the sound of the exhaust.

So with the top down wind is noisier than magnaflow.

this exhaust is really quiet at a constant cruising speed.

This is what I like about the magnaflow. At cruising speeds you don't get "exhaust drone". I don't think at cruising speeds the exhaust is much louder than stock. However, when you "get on it" it is much louder and deeper than stock, it sounds awesome IMO.

If you want a really loud exhaust and like the loud exhaust drone at cruising speeds the magnaflow probably isn't for you. Sorry I don't have a suggestion on what is louder at acceleration and cruising speeds. Someone will probably be along with suggestions.

im just gonna get the mf, from what i hear its pretty quiet at cruising speeds which is the #1 thing im looking for, and the sound is deep, which is #2 on my list, and from what i hear its decently loud when you get on it, which is #3 on my list, so it sounds like this is the exhaust for me , ima order it today. thanks for the input guys. im also getting the dejon intake and wastegate spring, not really sure if the springs helps out much but its only like $10 so what the heck. the intake should help a small portion with the sound and i might get the solo high performance cat a little later.

something i need to know first and this is a biggie, like itll determine whether or not i get it. if i get a full intake system, cai + ic piping + ic, and exhaust, mf cb and maybe high flow cat, will i need a tune to keep the engine from messing up or do i only need it to get the most out of it. i really dont wanna screw up my car if you know what i mean. im waiting for the gm tune but ima get full intake and exhaust first and i need to know if it needs a tune right away or if i can go without it period, no tune would be awesome. i need some ACTUAL knowledge on this not just "i think itll be alright".

With Just the Catback - No
With Catback and CAI - No

Depending on the flow of the Intercooler pipes, you want want to get an ECM with flash. That's most likely going to run lean with all 3.

The ECM will be able to compensate for both the Catback and CAI

will it be an unsafe lean zone? i dont plan on running it hard all the time, maybe a couple times a week at most. also, what my mpg gonna do, will it drop a good bit or go up some? seems like it would go down to compensate for the extra air coming through.

we spoke a bit on my youtube account, but just to give you some relief, you don't NEED a tune with any of it. Our ECU is smart and adjusts fuel and timing for everything we do. If it sees a lean spot, it'll either add fuel or reduce boost....it's the beauty of having a wideband O2 sensor stock. The car is constantly monitoring AFR.

So no, you don't need a tune for those mods. Heck, the tune was the last power mod I did. Car ran fine and pulled strong. The tune just really unlocks everythings potential, as the stock tune on the car will only let you do so much, and it'll eventually start to lower boost more and more to bring power back down to where it wants it to be.

I did dyno's along the way, and right now untuned (i took the tune out to get service done and want to buy a second ECU to put the tune on to avoid downtime during mailing it to westers) , i'm putting down 245 whp and about 255 lb ft on a dyno dynamics. that's about 30-40 over stock.

With the tune, I put down 292 whp and 327 lb ft on a dynojet.

So don't worry. You can get the exhaust, cat, intercooler, etc....without the tune and not blow up the car.

As far as MPG, it's all mental. With extra power you want to play more, lol. But if you can manage to drive the same, mileage is about the same. I get on average 23-24 city and 30-34 highway. Don't forget you can still drive without getting into boost, that's what kills your mileage.
